Manager Dougie Freedman has said he feels that Nottingham Forest have had a very good week on the training pitch ahead of the visit of Cardiff City.
On the back of the Bolton draw last weekend, our exit from the Capital One Cup gave us a free midweek this time round and of course Cardiff had extra time to contend with on on Tuesday evening as they also came out of the Cup, and speaking to the Official Forest Site ahead of the game in his press conference, Freedman felt that we'd prepared well, and of course their midweek exploits might give us a little advantage - but it's one we can't rely on.
'It`s been good from an injury point of view. A few people have been feeling tired after playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday. It catches up with you, especially when it comes right at the start of the season. It`s been a very good week.'
With Cardiff likely to rotate after extra time, we may have a fatigue advantage, but they have been resolute this year being unbeaten and Freedman knows tired or not, they will be a tough opponent for us to get past.
'Cardiff are a good side - people are underestimating them. They`ve got good experience in their team and people who have won Championships before. We need to make sure they don`t see much of the ball. They`ve got four very good strikers that we`ve done a lot of homework on and we want to keep them away from the areas we think they`re dangerous.'
Defender Jack Hobbs was also briefly interviewed ahead of the game, and he echoed the gaffer in saying that the players looked very 'sharp' in training and our mood is high going into the game so hopefully that will translate to three points for us.
'The mood`s been great. There was no midweek game this week so we`ve had a good opportunity to get some hours out on the training pitch. The lads are looking sharp. I think Cardiff will be very well organised. They`ve got some good players; the likes of Peter Whittingham, who is known for his passing range. It`ll be a tough game for us but it`s one we`re looking forward to. We want to put our stamp on it again, get on that front foot and hopefully pick up three points.'
