Cardiff City: West Brom still hopeful over David Marshall deal
BBC
Friday 28th August 2015
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has not given up on signing Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
Scotland international Marshall is the subject of a bid thought to be in the region of £5m.
Cardiff have asked for more money, but Welshman Pulis is still hopeful a deal can be struck.
"It's out of my jurisdiction now, it's down to the money men. Never say never until the window closes," he said.
"We'd like Marshall, and the two clubs have been talking for nearly five weeks."
Marshall, 30, is under contract until the end of the 2017-18 season, having signed a long-term deal with the Bluebirds in February 2014.
That was during the Scotland international's impressive campaign in the Premier League, which prompted interest from several clubs.
Cardiff were relegated at the end of the 2013-14 season and made Marshall captain as they ended the last campaign in 11th place in the Championship.
The Scotsman was suspended for the start of this season, but played in the 2-0 win over Wolves.

Sounds ominous... Hope he's stays though.

Pulis confirms Evans and Marshall bids
Friday 28th August 2015
Tony Pulis has said he "would love" to sign Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans and still wants Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall..
The Baggies manager was talking ahead of West Brom's trip to Stoke City and, after taking the opportunity to criticise the current window system overlapping the start of the Premier League season, he admitted to being keen on a couple of targets.
"We tried to sign David Marshall and have been trying to do the deal for four or five weeks," he stated. "It's been disruptive for Cardiff and Marshall."
Pulis did say, however, he is interested is taking out of favour Jonny Evans from Manchester United.
He added: "Jonny would be a great signing for the football club but it's down to the money men and his side.
"It takes three parties, the player and the clubs. I'd love to sign Jonny Evans."
The Baggies have made five summer signings so far, spending in the region of £24.5m following the arrival of Salomon Rondon from Zenit.

Evans move is on and Lescott off to Villa as a result!
I hope that the rhetoric from Tan last night wasn't just hot air to 'draw' WBA out on price. My understanding is that Marshall doesn't 'want' to move and the club (Russell in particular) don't 'want' to sell him
Let's hope that is correct

Cardiff City Transfer News: Tony Pulis still wants David Marshall at West Brom and plans to take £5m deal to deadline day

Tony Pulis insists he still wants Cardiff City keeper David Marshall at West Brom and hopes a £5m deal can be struck before Tuesday's deadline.
While the Albion boss admits the bid is now 'out of his jurisdiction' he said: “It's down to the money men. I never say never until the window closes.”
Sources at the Bluebirds had suggested that the deal was dead in the water after refusing the Baggies' initial £4.5m bid, claiming it was now too close to the deadline and they didn't want to disrupt Russell Slade's squad after a solid start to the Championship season.
But Pulis, who has a reputation for landing late deals, has refused to accept defeat on Marshall and hopes a bid of around £5m could yet tempt the Bluebirds board.
He said: “We'd like Marshall and the two clubs have been talking for nearly five weeks."

I know it seems that Marshall is staying but am not popping the cork just yet.

Hope I'm wrong but I don't think Marshall will stay, and I don't think Nolan will come to Cardiff.
