Nolan: A racing cert to join us

I see that Nolan is now 7/1 odds on to sign for us. I remember that great old hurdler Persian War starting a race at exactly the same price. Beaten by Batman @33/1.

Russell Slade hasn't ruled out, however he's certainly not ruled it in either, a move for Kevin Nolan. In fact he's 'played down' rumours that Nolan will be signing for Cardiff.

Former Bolton and Newcastle midfielder Nolan, heavily linked with the Bluebirds following his West Ham release this week, isn't 'close' to a move to the Cardiff City Stadium regardless as to what reports claim.

At least this is the view of Slade, who said.

'I think Kevin Nolan is a very good player. But there are lots of very good players that have been put our way as possibilities but they have to fit in.'

'They have to fit in with what we're trying to do both financially and from a playing side.'

From a playing point of view, even at 33, there shouldn't be much disputing that Nolan would be a fine signing for Cardiff however you worry about the fact he could 'fit in' on a financial level.

We're looking to reduce the wage bill and Nolan isn't going to come cheap is he!

Slade added, when asked if a move was close.

'Not that I know of.'

One more signing being made ahead of the transfer deadline on Tuesday was something that the boss did admit though, is this Nolan? Only time will tell but it doesn't seem too likely, unless Slade is playing his poker face....

City will not pay his wages.

The more people believe it the more money goes on Cardiff for his next club the more the odds slash

The odds are simply on how much money is going on the market , they do not have inside information on our club or it would be against the law

Odds mean nothing they don't know nothing for certain

What you gotta ask yourself is who in this division could afford him,not many if any at all.He might have his eye on Watford as it wouldn't require a house move I suppose.
