Positives from last night

Whilst being disappointed with result and Slades substitutions the big positive for me was the performances of Joe Ralls and Craig Noone.

Ralls only came into side at last minute as gunnarrson injured himself in warm up but for the time he was on the pitch he stood out above everyone else. He looked good on the ball and was happy to run with it. He barely wasted a pass and when we didn't have possession he worked his balls off to help win it back. As soon as he was taken off MK Dons took control of game.

Nooney ran for the entire 120 minutes and caused problems for the full back. One of my biggest criticisms of him has been the end product and whilst on several occasions he failed to deliver he set up 3 or 4 really good opportunities to score. Another criticism is his failure to use his right foot when in good positions but twice he put great balls into box and from one Revell volleyed home the opening goal.

Amoebic and Fabio both had reasonable games as did manga and Morrison. The big disappointment was Connolly at right back who was poor.

My main gripe was lack of thought regarding subs. No left back cover and whilst you can't cover every position the fact that Fabio went off with cramp 4 days previously should have resulted in one of the youngsters being involved especially given the fact that there was a good chance of the game going to extra time.

Gareth, a couple of questions

Do you think Slade was really bothered about the competion or did he not get it right with the lack of cover on the bench?

One of Slade's many weaknesses is his use of substitutions, something I have been saying for a very long time

I think he picked a strong enough team to win it. The substitutions and bench were baffling. I can't fault the effort of the players and its pleasing to see the team trying to pass ball but with the right cover on the bench I believe we would have won. The strange thing for me was that the under 21s played the night before. Who decides these things? I'd have been happy to see Jazzi Barnum Bobb at right back and the left back whose name escapes me in the side. Unfortunately you can't ask players to play twice in 2 days.

That's fair enough Gareth, glad we went out to win the Cup game, his subs baffle me as well.

I don't rate Connelly.

Shit at a set piece, poor passing and slow.

Some here love him though.

He can score a goal or two and looks like a footballer
Not a turner type clunker.

I would play oshilaja and manga myself

I can see why Tamas has been signed.

I thought we passed the ball very well I think injuries let us down and our fringe players won't be up to speed as the starting 11. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

I was'nt there last night so I'll take your word on our passing. However, I thought the opposition made a lot of changes to their starting 11 as well.
