Cardiff City have continued their backroom re-shuffle by appointing a new club secretary

Cardiff City appointed a new club secretary today, David Beeby, from Scunthorpe United.

The former Iron media man had been with the Glanford Park outfit for 14 years but says the lure of the Bluebirds was too much to turn down.

In a statement on his former club's official website, he said: "It was a difficult decision to leave Scunthorpe United as it's been a big part of my life.

"Having spoken at length with my family, the lure of a new opportunity in Wales was too good to resist.

"I'll leave behind some great memories from my time at the club and would like to say a big thank you to the chairman, staff and supporters I've worked with over the years. I look forward to returning to Glanford Park in future as a fan."

Scunthorpe United wish to announce club secretary David Beeby will be leaving the football club at the beginning of October to take up a new challenge at Cardiff City.

David goes with our best wishes and gratitude for his sterling efforts over the years.

He started working for the Iron during his time at Aston University, helping build the Iron's first ever club website in the late 1990's.

David then joined the club full-time in 2001 as media manager before becoming assistant club secretary in 2004. He was then appointed as general manager in 2010.

Iron chairman Peter Swann said: "I'd like to go on the record and publicly thank David for all the assistance he has given me since I have been chairman of this football club.

"We wish him all the best in his new role at Cardiff City."

David Beeby stated: "It was a difficult decision to leave Scunthorpe United as it's been a big part of my life. Having spoken at length with my family, the lure of a new opportunity in Wales was too good to resist.

"I'll leave behind some great memories from my time at the club and would like to say a big thank you to the chairman, staff and supporters I've worked with over the years. I look forward to returning to Glanford Park in future as a fan."
United chief executive officer James Rodwell added: “David has been a great help to me since I joined the club and I wish him well in his new adventure. I would also like to place on record my thanks to Cardiff City FC for the way in which they have dealt with this matter."

Scunthorpe United now actively start the process of looking for a suitable candidate to help drive the club forward.
