What's happened to Financial Fair Play?

Has it gone by the board now as the big clubs seem to be splashing the cash like it's going out of fashion.

Does it not apply any more? How does any change impact on our division? A lot has been made of the fact that the cost cutting throughout the league system is due to having to comply with FFP but the big clubs just seem to carry on spending what they like. Hardly "fair play" to the rest of the teams in the league and the big clubs just get bigger.

QPR were rushing to sign loads of players before the season started as it seemed like they would be in breach of FFP rules and be banned form signing players but no mention of that has been made so far.

I'm confused. Can anyone explain the current position?

David, it's pathetic and shocking that clubs can pay this kind of money.

Would laugh my head off if they spent that much and then he got injured for the rest of the season. Not wishing him a serious injury but would love to see Ugly Van Gaal's face then.

Incredible how football has changed. Sad to see such a gap emerging between the elite and the rest of football.

I thought FFP only applied to Championship and below?

I'm sure it applied to all divisions including the Premier League as there was talk last season of man City having to sell players before they could buy any more because of the FFP rules.

Now however the top clubs seem to be spending absolute fortunes willy nilly without any restrictions.

Can anyone explain how FFP works and how come it doesn't seem to apply to the same extent as it has in the past few seasons?

Just like society in the UK as a whole then. Football is just following the capitalist trend.

It makes my stomach turn.....its all wrong....these clubs and players have lost touch with reality and the fans....clubs don't care about fans anymore because they don't need their money on a matchday to pay the wages, they just need everyone to buy shits and tat off the internet and subscribe to satalite channels for football. the rich get richer while clubs with great history go to the wall for the sake of a few thousand pounds.

Yes I recall now about Man City.

So if FFP does apply then it makes you wonder just how much income these big clubs are making to pay £240m for one player. It just not seem right regardless though even if it is the most coverted player in the world going to the most famous club on the planet.

Bloody hell. With that sort of cash they could buy 1371.43 Stephen Bywaters. That's a lot of Bywaters.
