Time for me to be negative for once.
I think his improved performance yesterday is an attempt to attract the attention of other clubs. His brother has just moved to the continent while he is stuck with Cardiff. Malone is clearly Slade's number one left back. Mark my words - he'll be gone before the transfer window closes.

Always thought it was odd that he's stayed with us this long. I just can't imagine him being happy here.

I'll be surprised if Fabio goes in this window.
We only have Fabio, Malone and Declan John who are natural left-backs. John isn't even getting a look in for some reason, and I'd expect him to go out on loan unfortunately.
At right-back we only really have two natural right-backs in Peltier and Connolly, who has played a lot of his career there. Fabio is one of only two other players who can fill in there - Gunnarsson being the other one.
For that reason, I find it difficult to see him leaving at the moment.
Fabio's performance yesterday will give Slade a good selection headache for Blackburn, and perhaps he will see what Fabio can do at MK Dons on Tuesday as well - or even play Malone on Tuesday and see how he gets on, if he's over his illness.

Did'nt you see his attempt at a straight forward clearance that went flying across our box, or when he launched himself into a tackle, he got nowhere near the player never mind the ball, and he did that twice for good measure.Makes the same sort of mistakes every time.

Only looking at the negatives then I bet? You ignore the fact that he set up a goal, made a number of great tackles and linked up very well with Ralls. The guy gives his all, and he might miss a few tackles, but he successfully makes many more.

And he won every header he went up for except one. Probably beat more players in the air yesterday than the rest of the team put together. Best player by a mile!

Good. He's a dreadful defender.

Fabio was the best player on the pitch yesterday, without question.

Probably the best he has played for us on Saturday however one swallow doesn't make a summer and while I've always liked him when attacking I still require some convincing as to his defensive capability

Do you not think if he was good he would be able to get into a championship team that finished 11th?
Mon Aug 24, 2015 12:06 pm
I think him not getting into a team that finished 11th,says more about the manager than Fabio.
He would get in most "attacking" teams in the championship,IMHO.

Doesn't fit into the system sadly. Lets get rid of all our players who can't get into the team and denounce them as dreadful.

If he was that good we'd find a way to fit him in.

Fabio did play very well on Saturday, but his positioning is terrible. A few times, down Wolves' right and our left, Wolves had an overlapping full back and when Ralls tracked back to help Fabio, there were times when Fabio totally switched off and left his man go past him. I do really like Fabio, especially as he is quality going forward. But, the first thing you want your defender to be able to do is defend and then after that, you look to see how good they are going forward. So, for me this is the reason why I feel that our two best fullbacks are Malone at left back and Peltier at right back. If Fabio worked on his positioning, decision making and he started to show signs that he was improving and becoming a better defender, then I would have him as my first choice left back every day of the week, without question. I just feel that at the moment, he is not the best defender that we have at left back. Last season I thought that Malone was a very poor acquisition and he was basically a waste of money. But, this season he is like a different player, you can tell that he has worked a lot harder through the summer to improve as a defender. Malone has become an important player for us now and I feel that he has shown great character and he now has a much more positive attitude, you can see it in the way he plays now, he is more confident in defending and attacking. Listen, Fabio is one of my favourite players and I would love for him to become a more important member of the team and an even better player for the team. He has a fantastic attitude, that you cannot teach and if half of the players showed the same commitment, determination and attitude that Fabio does, then it would be a joy to watch Cardiff City perform every single week and we the fans, would finally have a team that every last one of us, would be proud to support.
