Good win, but where was everyone?
By Steve Tucker
Sunday 23rd August 2015
This was perhaps the best win the Bluebirds have achieved under Russell Slade, but the big disappointment is that there were so few fans there to witness it.
The official attendance was given as 14,820, the lowest for a league game at the Cardiff City Stadium. The previous lowest was 15,429 recorded on the opening day of this season when the Bluebirds drew with Fulham.
It’s been a difficult sell this season that is for sure. Only about 10,000 season tickets have reportedly been sold this year, down 6,000 on the previous campaign.
There are, of course, various factors. The low expectations of the campaign, the unattractive brand of football many witnessed from their side last season.
The Wolves game was also on TV, which never helps either. One thing is for certain though, if Russell Slade and his men can keep turning in performances and earning results like they did against Wolves, the fans should start to return.
Success is the best way to get a buzz going.

My 3 season tickets are included
Plus I still don't believe we have sold 10,000 season tickets,it was a £10 a friend test and a lot of friends attended, plus over 1,000 Wolves fans.
Just say there are about 10,000, then what's happened to the 12,000 season ticket holders from just 2 seasons ago??
They turned up for Premier league football.
I've been flying home for the away games and will do again this week

If we keep on playing the way we are then they will come back.

Think there were more in Santa Ponsa than at the game!

I think your right

I would've thought fans would want to go to the game as it is on sky. Not stay at home. So we don't look pathetic.

Isles of Scilly but glad we won

WalesOnline continue to be the repetitive brand they are then.
We been in decline off the field and on the field.. basically summed up in one sentence.

There's a few factors I think. I wasn't surprised by the low attendance in all honesty.
People are still on holiday, especially those with children as the schools go back very soon.
Live on Sky.
Results weren't great leading up to the match, three points from three games and scraping a 1-0 win against League Two opposition in the cup.
Money. Those without season tickets will pick and choose their games. We've just had two away games in a row, and now we have another two in a row.

On holiday, working, watching in a pub or at home on sky, fans still feeling very low from last season and from the effects of the rebrand but what I will say is unless you experience these low times you will never fully appreciate success!

Stay away fans needed to see Cardiff do well from their armchairs, the win against Wolves, and the fact we dont have another sky game this year, as yet, will hopefully spark the crowds interest.

In a wedding. However, drop prices to carling cup prices and ill go more often.
Mon Aug 24, 2015 12:34 pm
Very poor attendance compared to what we are use to. However fans can be as selective as they want and are probably holding on to see how we are doing by christmas...if we are doing well fans will get the st's if we are not attendances will carry on being the 14-15k
The good times are well and truly over, the purse is fully closed and we have a team with average to good players with an average manager.
Prices will never drop to carling cup prices, it's just not sustainable.....one other thing to mention is level 4, £800 a year to sit up there, if you had not renewed by a certain date your match day programme allowance is taken away from you. That is simply shocking given the price...compare to MK Dons for their equivalent.....£804 free soup and sandwiches before, free ts and programme, free tea coffee at half time, free parking and just 40 quid to bring an extra guest(s)...not sure how much it is nowadays the city but it was 70 the last time I took a guest up there.

Barnsley v bradford £25 to get in ..... I would of paid to get out
Not many shots on goal but one player stood out think he was smallest player on the park ( Dan Crowley) kept hold of the ball twisted and turned a right dynamo in midfield.
