MUST stay at Cardiff City and why Wolves missed out the day Sammy Ameobi said NO

Cardiff City wowed in their live TV 2-0 win over Wolves and Steve Tucker puts it down to the team changes Russell Slade made
Kenwyne Jones and Sammy Ameobi were the Cardiff City heroes against WolvesKenwyne Jones and Sammy Ameobi were the Cardiff City heroes against Wolves
It sometimes takes just one man to ignite a club’s season but for Cardiff City it could be two men who've done the trick.
In the face of fierce questions about his team selections, Russell Slade had stubbornly stuck to his guns but three straight draws had done little to quell the criticism.
Why was Kenwyne Jones repeatedly left out for Alex Revell?
Why had Sammy Ameobi been signed from Newcastle to sit on the bench?
These two questions had dominated the agenda during Cardiff City's uninspiring start to the season.
But, during the excellent win against Wolves, Slade seemed to have finally woken up to the idea that his squad did contain real quality and he gained the confidence to use it.
In came Jones with Revell dropped to the bench and suddenly the Bluebirds had another dimension up front.
Jones looks languid and laid back, but is potentially lethal. He posed real problems for a Wolves defence that's leaked goals like a sieve this week.
He capitalised on an excellent Fabio cross and a moment of goalkeeping Carl Akeme will want to forget to give the Bluebirds the lead and sent the Cardiff City Stadium into raptures.
Amidst the euphoria came the thought too that if Cardiff are to do anything this season they must hold onto their big striker. It’s imperative, no matter how much Sheffield Wednesday or anybody else are prepared to bid.
So when Jones limped off after looking to have turned his ankle on 57 minutes you feared the questions he had posed of the Wolves defence might be going with him.
Amazing Ameobi shows Wolves what they're missing
But there was no need to fear, on came Ameobi, all legs and arms and a stride seemingly three times the size of most mortal men.
Within minutes he had his first goal, which not only lifted the Cardiff City Stadium, it lifted Ameobi himself as he seemed keen to show the Wolves faithful exactly what they're missing out on.
In one of those moments of irony the beautiful game likes to throw up, it has to be remembered that Ameobi had been driving to Wolves in the summer to sign on loan for them when the Bluebirds managed to tempt him for talks with them instead.
Credit to Slade then?
Slade needed the win and he deserves credit for making the big decisions.
One swallow does not a summer make, but I could not help thinking this was a result and performance that could just ignite Cardiff's campaign.
Is it too early to say? Whatever cynics might think, Cardiff City have the players who can certainly challenge at the top of the Championship.
As long as they are actually on the pitch, of course.

Does Tucker do any proper journalism, or does he steal everything he writes from this board?

I don't claim to be "in the know", but just for once I have it on good authority that Jones returned from the Caribbean 7-10lbs over his target weight, and this was the reason he wasn't fit enough to start a game until yesterday.

Well, thats a far better reason not to start Jones than the other reason doing the rounds at the mo,namely, than Tan ordered Slade to drop Revell and play Jones.
