Poor crowd but...

Sat Aug 22, 2015 7:36 pm

More unity from the stands and the players, and it felt a little bit like the olden days! I thought the canton were great today good effort and noise. The missing fans will return, if they don't then so be it it's certainly not as toxic

Who cares about the crowd? They'll come trickling back if we start playing well.

The truth is, I believe, that there are fans who are not turning up because the 'glory days' have gone but the club also have to do more to repair the hurt over recent years before many return.

Changing from red to blue and using a tagline #BluebirdsForLife was too big a step in too short a time.

You have to win the hearts and the minds of people to believe in what you are trying to do.

As much as the club didn't understand what the reaction of the fans would be over the rebrand, I also believe they never learned their lesson when the decision was reversed either.

Don't think it has nothing to do with the glory days Carl, although it will boost the attendances.
CCS will never be the Old Ninian Park.
Modern football stinks, high prices and all seater stadiums.
I miss the Bob Bank terrible due to the volatile atmosphere..
Just my view, but I'm sure here are many out there who agree with me.

Thought the atmosphere was decent in the Canton today, the rain seemed to help bring everyone together :laughing5:

As with all clubs the floating fans will attend when the team are playing well, 14k is not the best but not too long ago we had average attendances of 3-4k

Agree Jon, the rain pushed the fans together and made them more cohesive.

Too many people still using the rebrand as an excuse not to turn up - be interesting to see how that will change if our success continues :sladein:

Yet we averaged 27,400 in the Premier League in Red...... Hmmmmmmmm

I doubt the rebrand is now an issue for more than a few hundred.
There will be lots of individual reasons, but the biggest one is that for the first time in many years fans don't think we will be fighting to get into/ stay in the Prem.

Last years poor performances and lack of new signings have also had an effect.

A few wins and good performances and we will see crowds increase.

In the meantime the club need to be doing everything they can to get the kids in.

Fill that top tier with freebies, I'm sure long term that tactic will pay for itself.

Heading down Hadfield road yesterday I thought to myself look how busy it is compared to the way it used to be 15 years ago and how far gave we come. Clubs will always have a section of glory hunters and some of those and their kids will become loyal fans. THe attendance was ok but should improve s when not on sky and with a few wins

I've not been yet this season. Missed Fulham due to a wedding. Would have gone yesterday had it not been on TV (due to my finances can't justify having sky and then travelling over for game). Will be at mk on Tuesday.

Last season was extremely hard going, not because we were relegated rather the football was dire.I went to every home bar one last year and at times I really wondered what I was doing there. This year is slightly better so fingers crossed. But last years performances may have been the last straw for some.

I felt the same last year as did a lot of us, dug in and it's much better on the eye and players playing for the shirt and a less toxic atmosphere!! A few more results and a non TV game will see an increase, up the bluebirds

I agree as well Jon, thought canton were great considering half full  rebrand has gone it was performances last year and for lots different reasons. One thing for sure if city do become contenders, the different reasons are overcome and that's a fact

I returned for the AFC Wimbledon game for the first time since Tan took over (even missed our maiden season in premier league). Even though you could feel the tension in the ground, it felt good to be watching City again. Damage was done, and the wound has been stitched, but the scar will always remain for me sadly. Hopefully I can go more often one day.
