Car hit mine then drove off someone left details

Is there any way I can find out who did it? Police were very useless when I called 101.

Police wont get involved with minor incidents like that, only way you'll find out is if you go through insurance, did the person who left the details take the other cars reg? If they did, you can report it to yiur insurance, they'll want to send a witness statement out to the person who left the details if they left there contact details, if not probably not much you can, can still report it, but the car who hit yours insurance company will want proof of how you know it was there insureds car

Person got the reg and gave it to me but didn't leave their contact details.

Only way you'd find out then is by reporting it to your insurance, they'll then contact the insurer's of that vehicle reg and get the claim set up, if thr driver denies it then they'll inspect his vehicle for any related damage, if they find related damage then they will probably deal with your repairs, if not you would just be claiming off your own insurance.

As a member of the public you are not allowed to get those details off the DLVA, against the law

To comply with section 25 of the Road Traffic Act both parties involved need to be SATISFIED with information provided.In your case this is not happening, therein the law has not been complied with phone the police and explain.

Thanks for that mate, some fucker cut me up on J48 on my home from work tonight. I was going to get out of the car and knife the fucker but he sped off. I got his reg number so now I can just get his address off the DVLA and go round his house and run him through!

How the f**k are you anyway mate?

This happened to me the other month u had my wing mirror knocked off and someone saw the van that done it so I phoned 101 who put me through to ponty police station I gave them the reg and all the details and about a month later they phoned me saying the driver of the van admitted it and they gave me a ref number to give to my insurance who then had it fixed lucky someone saw the van or I'd be nearly £200 out of pocket. U want to try again they will find them they did for me

Looking good at the mo. Insurance notified with reg. they gonna chase it up. It's probably 30 quids worth of damage at most. Just the principle. Ideally I'd get the address, go round and key the cunts car.
