A forum for all things Cardiff City

Romanian international defender Gabriel Tamas is training with Cardiff City and could become the Bluebirds' third summer signing.
Tamas, 31, is currently a free agent and has made 65 appearances for his country but is without a club after leaving Romanian side Steaua Bucharest.
Now, he could be set to sign on in the Welsh capital as Bluebirds boss Russell Slade looks to add to his defensive options.
Slade already has plenty of players to choose from at centre back with Sean Morrison and Matt Connolly starting the season and Bruno Manga and Ben Turner still to return from injury.

We do desperately need some more defensive options.

Happy with this. An experienced international to bolster the defence.

Agree it would be.

Ex West Brom and Doncaster Rovers, and linked with Watford last summer.
However, several 'incidents' related to brawling and heavy drinking have been in the UK press - so I wouldn't get too excited:
http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/spo ... -1-6496189Add to that Bruno is very close to playing again, and we have signed Ajayi as CB cover and the question has to be 'why'?
If he was a RB, a striker with a proven record in this league or above, or a top midfielder - then yes. But another CB who seems to be working his way down the football pyramid?

Morrison is our captain and Manga is our best player. Can't see him playing with Connolly and Turner (when he's back) being our backups also. However he is very experienced and would be good for the other players to learn from.

Seems pointless to me once manga and Turner are back we will be fine in that area ( and. Manga is back in full training)
We need a new striker maybe 2 and possibly another midfielder

Another defender

If he can play RB get him in, Peltier is SHOCKING
Thu Aug 20, 2015 6:04 pm
Does this mean Turner's injury is more serious than we've been led to believe?

Never liked Peltier, would play Fabio.

Doesn't make any sense whatsoever, unless Turner is out long term and/or Manga is sold in next week or so?
What was the point in signing Ajayi?
Thu Aug 20, 2015 6:16 pm
We don't need another centre back and what's more is he was released from his last contract for going out drinking to much and not turning up for training!
We shoul be after a striker anyway.

Watford fans on Twitter in stitches at how bad he is, multiple clubs have ended his contract. Don't quite get this one.
Manga Turner should be starting, Morrison should be dropped when Manga is back and then see how Connolly is doing when Turner is fit, at the mo, I'd have Manga and Connolly.

Have we ignored the fact Manga may be on his way just because hi likeness is on the stadium?

Manga is NOT going anywhere anytime soon

Manga not going this season .straight from the horse's mouth
Thu Aug 20, 2015 11:17 pm
If it means Morrison gets dropped

Isn't this guy like a huge drinker? I wouldn't want him around the squad tbh.

Sounds like a press release from a desperate agent trying to get a job somewhere for his client.
Fri Aug 21, 2015 6:19 am
Sounds like another one for Slade to sign and then never pick.
I thought we were meant to be trimming the squad, not signing players to cover positions where we have more than enough numbers.
Surely not even Slade would waste a contract on this bloke.

We do not need him - no place in the team
Fri Aug 21, 2015 9:09 am
If he signs him it proves he has no faith on our youngsters
Fri Aug 21, 2015 12:53 pm
It's not worked out
Wed Aug 26, 2015 12:40 pm
I wonder who signed this guy in the end. The coaching side or the management side.

Cardiff's signing of Gabriel Tamas, 'subject to internationals clearance' and that should come soon enough, has been confirmed on the Official Website.
The length of contract signed by former Watford and West Brom defender Tamas wasn't actually revealed, however it's been reported by the BBC they feel he's signed a one-year deal?
Whatever the length, following a trial with Cardiff, the Romania international has signed for the Bluebirds.
Following this arrival he said.
'I wanted to return to English football and out of a few offers, decided that Cardiff City was the Club I wanted to come to.
'I've met up with the Manager and a few of the boys who I remember playing against during my time in the UK. I'm looking forward to training with the boys and getting out there.'
At 31 the Romanian isn't a youngster, he doesn't lack quality either having won 65 caps for his country and from what I can remember wasn't a bad footballer with Watford and West Brom so he'll do well enough at the Cardiff City Stadium....hopefully anyway!
Tamas certainly has versatility as even though his main position is central defence he can also play at full back and in midfield.
We've also had an update on David Marshall today, speaking of West Brom, with is said this deal isn't happening and he's now 'not for sale.'
A spokesman told the media.
