RUSSELL SLADE:"LETS GET THAT VICTORY"

Slade:"A bitter pill to swallow"

Thursday 20th August 2015

After hitting crucial late goals in the first two League matches of the season, the Bluebirds felt the other edge of the sword on Tuesday night as Grant Hanley equalised for Blackburn Rovers at the death.

Russell Slade spoke to the media and press after the match, admitting that the draw was a bitter pill to swallow following an accomplished first half performance from his men.

“It is three points lost when you get so close,” said the Boss. “I’m gutted for the players tonight. I thought we’d just about seen them off as they came at us strong in the second period for fifteen, twenty minutes.

“They try to wear you down, spinning balls behind you to win throws, free kicks and corners and put you under pressure.

“It looked like we had weathered that though, and that we might even go and get one on the counter attack to level things up. So we’re very disappointed that we didn’t see it out.”

Joe Mason got his 2015/16 account underway with an early opener, and Russell was quick to praise the striker, whilst also lamenting an offside decision given against the City number ten.

“When he went through in the second half, he looks onside,” he continued. “It’s really touch and go, and that would have wrapped the game up – that’s for sure.

“He’s a threat though, isn’t he? He gets in between people, he links us up as well and finds those goal scoring positions. I’m delighted he got his goal tonight because he deserves it.”

Finally, the Gaffer set his sights on Saturday’s visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers, as his side look to continue their unbeaten record, and hopefully secure their first win.

“Blackburn probably wasn’t the best performance out of three matches,” he continued. “But as the away team, to get in front and look like we’d seen the game out at one stage, it was hard to take.

“The positive is that two of our three draws have been away from home. We need to be winning our home games and we’ve got to treat it like a fortress to get victories. That will make these points on our away travels very valuable.

“We’ll dust ourselves down – and let’s crack on and get that first win on Saturday against Wolves.”

I think we are unlucky not to have won at least one of the games maybe two ??

The performances have been a big improvement on last year, with our best two central defenders out ,and our Premiership Goalkeeper and probably best player has been suspended for two League games, so we'll done Slade and the team.

I was not at the Fulham game.

But QPR away was a fair result for both sides a draw.
Blackburn away,we dominated for 40 mins, but then they Slaughtered us and we were very lucky to get a point.

We need to beat Wolves :ayatollah:

same old, same old from the PE teacher stating the obvious. "We'll dust ourselves down and go again' "We are a working progress", all that shit he spouts yet he never does anything to change things so the following week, guess what? "We'll dust ourselves down and go again", it's getting boring now from Mr Slade. How about try a different formation so you can play to your players strengths, you never know it may work.
A bitter pill to swallow for us fans that we have to watch you make the same mistakes over and over again and never have the balls to try something different in your dinosaur formation, you are going for the safe option, sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't, grow a pair and then fans like me may give you more of a chance than we already do, keep doing what you are doing and you will isolate all fans that know what they are talking about and actually know a bit about football.
Queue all the Slade lovers
As Annis has said, we need to beat Wolves :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

"PE teacher" classic!!! Have said he should be given til Christmas before any decision is made, though if we do not beat Wolves then the knives will start to be sharpened. Then again what decent manage/coach would want to come here? We need a strong manager who will not bow down to Tan and one who plays players in positions that hurt the opposition. We seem to be coasting at the moment and if this continues the top 6 position talked about will get harder to reach as the season progresses.

Drop that useless git Morrison and we might stand a chance. Pick Nooney from start and put an academy product like Wharton or O''Sulivan for bench and fans might start backing you.....

In fairness, he does rate the game as the worst out of the 3played ... Wolves is a big game now, need 3 points to keep the lid on fan disgruntlement
