Steve Tucker

The football genius says in the paper this morning we need to start ameobi, noone and Jones but gives no indication to where they should play and who we should drop.

So if we start Jones I'm assuming we drop revel (this I 100% agree with)

Then noone and ameobi have to slot in on the wings meaning dropping pilks and ralls. This I don't necessarily agree with, pilks is a class player at this level and noone has been poor for a long time and done well as an impact sub a couple of times so far against tired legs. Whereas ralls gives us extra cover in that inside left position but won't beat a man and hit the bi line like ameobi may do. If anything, give ralls a rest and see how ameobi does at least this may keep the opposition guessing. But I fear it might leave us light in the middle so away from home I'd stay with ralls and try out ameobi at home and go for it.

I think our weak link, although he tries his heart out is Revell and we need a propper danger man up there. He's cover not a starter.

Tucker chatting his usual crack pot shite with no solutions.

What's everyone's thoughts on who we should start in this particular positions ?

You'll probably get the Whittingham haters on telling you he should be dropped for Ralls to play centre midfield.

Re: Steve Tucker

Wed Aug 19, 2015 8:05 am

before I start... I'm not a Whittingham hater at all.
Just don't think his past loyalty to the club should mean he keeps his place in the side, when to put it bluntly his dead ball play has been terrible. Certainly not up to the high standard expected of him.
Scoring after 5 minutes then hanging on for the rest of the game. They had chance after chance and we didn't heed the warnings. Slade was incapable of reacting to it or dealing with it. Hopeless. Our only hope was to attack and try to kill the game.

Jones up front with either Ameobi or Mason feeding off him.

Whittingham to the bench.
Ralls in the middle as an attacking central midfielder (Dikagcoi defensive central)
Noone and Pilkington on the flanks.

As a priority, we need to buy another centre back as neither Morrison or Connolly are good enough.
Both are too slow and more importantly (as Morrison proved again last night) they can't defend set pieces.
What's Ayayi like?

Jones for revell is a no brainer at the moment. For wolves Saturday i would drop Ralls and whitts for noone and Gunnar get some fresh keen energised players and I would try ameobi off Jones plenty of pace and power up top then

Personally I think gunnars ball retention is poor, dropping our two best passers in ralls and whitts would be a mistake, I just can't see where the creativity would come from gunnar?

Your right, his dead balls have been sub standard for probably two seasons now.

I think ralls is the only one who could replace whitts because he has that composure and is a great ball player, gunnar for me is just a work horse and wont create anything.

No idea what Ayayi is like to be honest.

Slade just uses old school tactics and doesn't adapt to anything, standard 60 minute substitutions and plays it safe, I think we're seeing the mediocrity we better get used to with three draws on the bounce. It could look bad points wise if we loose our next game or a half tidy start if we win, considering we've got a tough start n all.

That'd a decent team, whitts and ralls in the middle with dico doing the sweeping and two attacking wingers to support Jones. We all know russle won't go 4-5-1 though!

My point is that a lot of the posters seem to have an agenda or want to use Whitts as a scapegoat. Some jump on any post his name comes up on to say how useless he is.

I can't believe that the laughing stock that is angelis is complaining about the level of debate! You're about the most negative, useless tw*t on here.

Re: Steve Tucker

It will never happen but I would play (3-2-2-1-2) formation.

Left Back. Right Back. Central Defender. With 2 Defensive Midfielders it turns into a 5-3-2 when Defending and a 3-4-3 when attacking.

Marshall
Fabion Morrison Malone
Dikacoi & Gunnarsson (DM) - (although Connolly could possibly play there also)
Noone & Pilkington on the Wings
Whitts in a free AM role
with Kenwynne & Mason up front.

Re: Steve Tucker

It's difficult to have both Ameobi and Noone on the wings as the team will lack defensive organisation. Ameobi is apparently a support striker anyway so I suppose he is competing with Mason, whilst Jones is competing with Revell and Noone would probably come in for Pilkington as he is more of a winger than Ralls who is played where he is to add balance to the midfield.

Nooney should be close to a start and surely it's only a matter of fitness for Kenwyne to come in.

Yeah this is what I'm saying, two out and out wingers in a 442 and we get over run especially as ameobi isn't exactly known for his defensive covering duties

I was thinking more of Dikgacoi can tackle and play a pass gunnar gets stuck in would be good box to box. Noone and pilks creating havoc down wings with Jones providing power height etc and ameobi pace and finishing off him

Good shout in my opinion, I'd go with that. Central 3 of Digkakoi, Ralls and Gunnar would give plenty of grit and creativity and Pilkington and Noone good on the wings. I would find a place for Mason though!

Ah right, not sure if they are too similar? Like clever poacher players that need a target man to feed off...
