" We deserved more "

Gary Bowyer felt that a point was the least his side deserved after Grant Hanley's leveller two minutes from time earned a point in an entertaining Ewood encounter against Cardiff City.

The home side trailed as early as the fifth minute as poor defensive play allowed Joe Mason to put the Bluebirds in front, but the only surprise was it took until the 88th minute for them to rescue a point.

Rovers saw a goal for Fode Koita ruled out for offside, whilst Hope Akpan and Shane Duffy also went close in the first half.

The second period continued in a similar vein with Nathan Delfouneso seeing a shot deflect onto the bar, before Hanley and Duffy saw efforts go wide.

In the end Rovers only had Hanley's goal to show for their forward play, much to the frustration of the manager.

"We should have won the game, we had some really good chances," Bowyer told Radio Rovers.

"I thought we played with a great intensity and a great patience at times and we got the least we deserved.

"We should have won the game with the chances that we had.

"I thought we showed great character and desire but we have to cut out these sloppy goals quickly.

"They can take a lot of positives from how they have performed tonight, a lot of people are talking Cardiff up and rightly so, but we've gone and given them a game and we should have won it.

"The lads are frustrated but at the same time they are a new team and they are still learning about each other. I thought they showed a tremendous fight tonight."

You're getting earlier and earlier with your posts Annis

Interesting read though, sounds like both managers thought they deserved more than a point :thumbright:
