' Cardiff City boss Russell Slade insists crucial Joe Mason offside call was 'arguably onside' '

BY SIMON GASKELL
In a week of controversial offside calls Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has joined the debate after Joe Mason was flagged when he could've been waved through
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade was left to rue a marginal offside call as his side saw two points slip through their fingers at Ewood Park.
The Bluebirds conceded late on after leading for 81 minutes to record their third straight draw at the start of the season.
Slade said had Joe Mason been allowed to play on with just over 10 minutes of the game left when he was played in, it could have been a different story.
But he admitted his side were under big pressure at the end of the game and paid tribute to Blackburn's aerial siege.
He said: "You've got to give Blackburn some credit for that. I think they came at us in that second 20 minutes.
"I just thought we'd seen that period off as well and maybe we might go on and nick one on the counter attack and the one where Mason's through, it's arguably onside.
"It's that tight and if that counts we might well have put the game to be but fair play to Blackburn.
"At corners and with the longest throw I've seen I think, which is a real missile and threat, it caused us problems from time to time.
"You can see they work a lot on their set plays and they've scored from a second phase. Eventually they have undone us. It's just disappointing when it comes at such a late stage."
Slade also lauded David Marshall as a top professional after making his competitive return following suspension amid speculation over a move to West Brom.
He saved late on from Grant Hanley as Blackburn threatened to snatch all three points and Slade said: "He's a good goalkeeper. He's not an international goalkeeper for no reason at all. He's played in the Premier League as you know. "He's a very good professional and his experience at this level is massive
"He's such a good professional, the club captain and to be honest he couldn't wait to get going tonight"

Your forecasts are way out so far. You reckones we would win 3 of our first 5, and had us down for a 2-0 win tonight. I admire your optimism, but I think you are blinkered where Cardiff is concerned. I notice a lot of us older fans had tonights score correct on the match thread.

I'm naturally enthusiastic as Bill Shankly once said "Natural enthusiasm you are nothing without it".
