VOTE MOTM v Blackburn Rovers (a)

Tue Aug 18, 2015 8:45 pm

Horrible to lose two points right at the end there. Going by Sky and Twitter, sounds like we were lucky not to lose in the end. That's three league draws out of three games now. When will we finally find a win?

Who was your man of your match?

How can you vote for MOM if you didn't watch the game?
Unless you did it makes a farce of the voting system on here.

David Marshall saves Cardiff City and Joe Mason scores but Sean Morrison wins man-of-match: Blackburn Rovers ratings

Who stood out?
Former skipper Sean Morrison led from the back, especially when the hosts put the pressure on in the second half.

Morrison kept things solid and was part of the reason the Bluebirds got the job done in the end.

Who shocked us?
With the current craze for being late goals, Joe Mason popped up with an early one at Blackburn, while many Cardiff fans were still holding onto the evening Horlicks.

Steve's Ratings in Full
DAVID MARSHALL: Back in the side and back with the armband on. A few OK saves, one brilliant one at the end, but was left exposed for the Blackburn goal Will he stay? The near 400 travelling Cardiff fans made their feelings known as they chanted for him to remain at the club. 6

LEE PELTIER: You are constantly looking at the full-back and wanting just a bit more from him. Will face sterner tests than this for sure and although he was reasonable solid at the back, he just never seems to venture forward. 6

MATT CONNOLLY: He has been in good form at the start of this campaign and he again held firm under quite a bit of pressure here. His late clearance off the line was vital. The Bluebirds were under the cosh during periods and the centre-half really played his part in stopping the tide. 6

SEAN MORRISON: (man of the match) He may not have been wearing the captain’s armband here with Marshall back, but the defender put in a skipper’s shift. When the Bluebirds were creaking, it was more likely Morrison holding them up. 7

SCOTT MALONE: If he had achieved the spectacular with his goal at QPR, this was a measured and undemonstrative showing from the full-back achieved almost entirely on the back foot. 6

ANTHONY PILKINGTON: This was probably his least impressive showing so far of what has been a reasonable start to the campaign. Did not really see enough of the ball and when he did get the odd chance it was usually squandered. 5

KAGISHO DIKGACOI: He is playing a vital role in that midfield and he looked solid enough if, again, not at his most mobile. Inching towards some kind of fitness and really that cannot come soon enough for the Bluebirds. 6

PETER WHITTINGHAM: Slade seems to be a really big Whittingham fan, but again the midfielder looked a little off the pace and a little withdrawn from the actions. Needs a spark or something to ignite him, but has not happened yet. 5

JOE RALLS: As usual he has a real but of drive about him, a hell of a lot of energy. The only thing was that an end product was sometimes lacking. That could well still be down to inexperience. 6

ALEX REVELL: A lot of hard work, a lot of running again, but his impact on the game was really, really minimal. Maybe he is not getting the service, but he never seems to make himself available for the telling ball anyway. 4

JOE MASON: He got the goal and took it very coolly early on, but after that, in truth, he was a peripheral figure to most of the action as Blackburn managed to seize the initiative most of the time. 6

I never vote unless I'm there personally, or if it's on Sky if I don't go.

That's why I didn't vote tonight, even though I run it.

I was there and Marshall was by far our best player out there so David Marshall is my choice for man of the match

that's what I was thinking, I think the whole of our midfield was out of sorts last night and that's where we lost the battle

I agree and I don't either but always do when I actually watch the game.
My point being that people like Rydog in his fluffy little world will guess from a report or the radio but for me especially with an award for the player of the season it makes it a farce.
Nothing against you Worcester as I support your MOM by always voting like I say.

Same here. I was'nt at the match so I can't possibly select a man of the match. Can't see how anyone can pick a player unless they have watched the whole 90 minutes. Agree that it's ludicrous to select a player based on bits and pieces you hear on the radio, or on Sky Sports News.
