My view on Slade/what is yours

Mon Aug 17, 2015 6:09 pm

Wanted to start this thread because I'm intrigued to see people's opinions on the most controversial man at the club at the moment, Russell Slade. He divides opinion and that is fine, it's what things like AAMB are for. Someone could say Kenwyne had a blonder on Saturday whereas another poster could say he was rubbish. It's part of being a fan. :bluescarf:

My opinion on Slade is this:

He has come into a club in crisis. Recently relegated, fans not happy and a bunch of overpaid flops that had to be offloaded. Also, he was never given a fair chance by some of our fans. People were blind and thought Pulis was coming and were totally underwhelmed with a manager from League one.

Since then he has cut the wage bill by £12 million a week, apparently. He has also brought in a few cute signings, like Peltiet from Huddersfield. Fans moaned that the style of football was awful last year, but it can't be denied that that is definitely changing for the better.

We are also showing fight and spirit that we haven't seen for a while, as Saturday's comeback showed. I also find Slade a very likeable and passionate guy and genuinely believe he is trying his upmost to get the team firing.

So for now, I'm very much :sladein: and he and the team will have my full support. He is the right man for the club at the moment and who knows what can happen this season.

It's all about opinions, post your opinion on Slade down below. We can have a good debate.

We all love CCFC! :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :sladein: :bluebird:

I think under the circumstances there is no better manager then Slade he is a good manager and he is doing reasonably well at the moment and he has kept us stable while cost cutting and now this season we are now much fitter and playing some good football which I think is also down to Slade and some people think that is down to Trollope but I don't think so he also played good football at Orient so there is reason to be optimist for the season ahead anything is possible. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

James I've never heard the term "blonder" before! It sounds fabulous though and conjures up images of Kenwynne in a blonde wig. Ooh sexy!

My opinion of Slade has not changed, despite the solid start to the season,I still think he is out of his depth at this level

Why is he out of his depth at this level?

I'm hearing that a lot on here and last season how is a manager with of over 700 league games out of his depth at this level?

Is Eddie Howe out of his depth in the premier league? Just because he hasn't managed there before?

What has Slade won in all those 700 plus games, and what has Howe achieved in less games I understand, oh that's right, promotion to the Premiership

He might not achieved promotion but he got Orient to within a whisker with a transfer budget of ZERO pounds! That is a fact I'd like to see any manager assemble a squad of free transfers that even make the top 10 of that league and where are they now? Oh yes relegated so maybe he hasn't achieved a great deal but his win record their was 42% not bad for a pub football manager who never spent a penny at the club his predecessor didn't quite manage the same

As for Eddie Howe probably not a great example as I rate him highly but my point was he needed a chance at some stage and he proved most wrong and I hope he does it again in the premier league this season
