Cardiff City can't rely on goals like Malone's and Noone's every week so must change their shape - Nathan Blake

Cardiff City Nathan Blake takes a look at the Bluebirds' start to the season and says a better attacking strategy is needed

Craig Noone and Scott Malone have a battle on for goal of the month

It was a extraordinary goal to get a decent point, but I have to say that I thought it was a little ordinary again from Cardiff City.

Don’t get me wrong, no-one played particularly poorly at QPR and Scott Malone had been one of the better ones before he hit that last-minute effort to make it two draws from two – but I don’t think anyone can say we ripped up any trees.

And it might be that Russell Slade will have to look at a change of formation to start getting the most from his best players.

Look, you always say you take a point from away games because that’s what can get you in the play-offs at the end of the season and it could be the case when we look back at this in May.

But the point is not always the point – and I would like to see us do more to win games, especially when the opportunity is there as it was at Loftus Road.

QPR look good on paper but right now they’re a poor side because they are so low on confidence. I don’t think you’d get a better chance down there and it would have been good to have seen us be more ruthless, to have pressed them higher.

Even though it took a late long-range goal as it did against Fulham, in a way it was a bit of a role reversal to the opening day with this time it was QPR on the counter attack with Cardiff outplaying them in the possession stakes.

But again when it gets to the final thirds we’re still looking for that bit of imagination. The play between the boxes was okay but when we got to the edge of the area we were lacking that bit of imagination.

And with QPR asking us to go wide, we didn’t have that pace or the spark to do something with it.

It’s easy to say but Craig Noone and Sammy Ameobi may have made the difference. Okay, Noone has spent a long while out injured and last season was really disrupted but on his day he can produce the goods and I was disappointed not to see him start.

Likewise with Ameobi who wasn’t involved from the off again which gets you wondering why he was brought in if he’s not going to play, especially when we were lacking that cutting edge.

I have to say,I agree with Nathan on this, which is a novelty in it self, continuity is one thing, not rectifying an obvious weakness is another

Don't often agree with Blakey but nail on head as they say.

I feel that a change up front and we may have been an easy win , 70 % possesion on saturday that is a massive improvement from last season but as much as I like Alex Revel I would start with Sami or Kenwyn up front and it may
have been a total different score line however to come back from 2 down away from home was great havent seen that
for a long time.

I thought both sides played attacking football and many of my neutral freinds said they enjoyed the game on TV
