What now for Fabio

Sun Aug 16, 2015 8:01 am

With Malone playing like a man possessed what is going to happen to Fabio ?
Such a talented highly paid player, seems a waste to have him on the bench, but barring injury it's hard to see him get back in.
I like him as a player, but could it be best for him to move now as although he's excellent cover for left or right, he's expensive and his salary could be better used elsewhere.
I'd keep him, but it's Slades job on the line, and Tans money not mine !

Tim, I would play Fabio at right back, (his natural position), and move Peltier in the center. I would definitely keep Fabio whatever but I feel Slade doesn't like him.

Steve exactly my feelings :ayatollah:
Fabio, for me is still one of our best players and should start.

Tim, to be honest I did not rate Malone that much last season, but to be fair to him,the last 2 games he has shone :ayatollah:

For some strange reason Annis, Slade doesn't have the time for Fabio, I'm confused to be honest. Definitely one of our best players.

Re: What now for Fabio

Peltier isn't big enough to be a regular centre back for me and doesn't really deserve to be dropped.

I also feel Fabio has performed better for us on the left than the right where on a few occasions he's been found wanting.

At the moment it would be a major gamble to make that change.
However having Fabio as cover does keep the pressure on him.

Problem with Fabio is he gets caught out to often Malone has nailed that spot down but Fabio will get games,u need gd players coming in when injuries happen so he will just have to wait for a chance

Annis where would you start him right or left back?
Id leave things alone at the moment personally!
As for peltier in the middle not for me.

Play him at RB. Peltier is shite

Play him at RB and drop Peltier to the bench.

I'm not very comfortable with Fabio he has cost us a few goals last season.

You have all the qualities and potential to be a good scout for Cardiff City then

Even on Tuesday against Wimbledon, we looked much more vulnerable defensively when Fabio was playing. Nice lad, skilfull player but needs to play as a wing back to get the best out of him. If he is so good, and he can't get in the team, why haven't any other clubs shown any interest? I rest my case.

Re: What now for Fabio

Sun Aug 16, 2015 4:22 pm

Totally agree, play fabio on the right, pelts is garbage

Re: What now for Fabio

Sun Aug 16, 2015 4:49 pm

Not sure I would put peltier in the middle but Fabio would be better at RB.

Re: What now for Fabio

Sun Aug 16, 2015 6:29 pm

Shocking defender, i'd have him on the bench, and put him on if we went 2.0 down, although we'd probably lose 4.0 because of his clueless defending.

Problem is although he gives 100% in every game.....unfortunately he is not a very good defender!!!!

I'd get shot of Fabio. And Peltier too for that matter.

I'd put Fabio right back and put Peltier on the bench

Slade has to get rid of him the same as jones and others instructed by tan hence why there on the bench imo so his agent can tout him about, the big earners sit on the bench or in the stands :? hmmm so it makes you wonder steve if stuff like this will get rid of players eitherway by not playing them to start with.

Re: What now for Fabio

Mon Aug 17, 2015 5:30 pm

I would have thought more chance of selling them by playing them.
Fabio is on the bench as the other 2 are playing well and both are probably better defenders.
Jones is in the bench because he's not fit enough to start and is puffing after 20 mins.

Yes, but I guess he's a big dude and it might be difficult.
I wouldn't write him off though, he's not had the proper pre season like the others and in a few weeks might be able to play long enough to be a starter.
Just does my head in all the so called experts saying 'Slade should start him' whilst totally missing the obvious that if Jones was able even to give 60-70 minutes he most likely WOULD be starting as he did for most of the first few months Slade was here.

Same with Ameobi.
Calls for him to play up front even though he was hopeless when he played there for the last 15-20 v Fulham.

He's got to earn his place same as everyone else.
Revell and Mason may not be perfect but both put in very good performances v Premiership teams in pre season and scored goals so in the absence of much competition they earned their places.

I wouldn't mind seeing Doyle given a bit more of a crack- although he was quiet against Wimbledon and missed the chance to shine

peltier is twice the defender fabio is on half the wages

Ian, it just doesn't make sense at all. If Tan wanted Slade to get rid of Fabio and the like then why the hell hasn't Slade tried to offload them just like he has with Guerro, whom, by the way, I think could have been our best striker. And to the poster that said why hasn't anyone come in for him, I'll tell you why, the same reason as Jones and co are still here, no one will pay their wages, nothing to do with his inability

not at all. Fabio is a good footballer terrible defender.

most people on here were begging for him to be at left back, now right back, but truth is he isnt good enough to play either position
