' More Cuts at Cardiff City '

For 2 seasons running now Cardiff have had to reduce the stewarding/match day staff, behind the scenes staff. Last season nearly 200 full staff & part-time went and this season nearly another 100.

With the loss of 12,000 Season ticket holders in the last 2 seasons, City have not only had to reduce the playing staff, but also the match day staff.

The latest to go were 10 match day, 50/50 ticket sales staff, who were all told by letter days before Ali the Announcer was also sacked. The 50/50 tickets are no longer available.

City to save money have closed more parts of the ground.

City hope to at least reducing the playing staff by another 5 players in the coming weeks.

Cardiff City are doing their utmost to try and reduce any more losses to the club, Ken Choo, City's CEO has been given the job to get the club to at least break even.

Can't see anything wrong with this, personally. Has to be done.

Yep. Would be surprised if we managed to break even this season to be honest with loads of high earners still on the books. Maybe if we sell marshy for £5m and with the parachute payments this might happen

From a club perspective I agree, but it is always sad to see anyone lose their jobs (full-time or part-time) for reasons not brought on by their own actions

Good luck to those now displaced!

As I said in another post earlier, this time last season our club was spending almost Twice its annual turnover on players wages alone,,,,that's was gross ludicrous business planning,,,,& now we are paying the costs of it, & I believe will continue to do so for many years to come. :x

Rick, I take No pleasure in saying it,but I kept warning all this would happen eventually, I got called Mr Negative and move on.
We have spent recklessly and not like a proper business.

At least we're doing something about it now. The club needs to improve financially and make up for previous mistakes

Bolton Wanderers made the biggest loss at £50.6m before tax, followed by Blackburn Rovers at £36.5m. Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City all reported losses of more than £30m.

I wonder in 20 years how the history books will recall this period.
Probably akin to Gerald Ratner in how to get it so wrong.
A growing club, new stadium all to look forward to and then Vinny completely alienates the fanbase.
We all wondered and speculated on his intentions, well only 1 visit to leckwith in 18 months.
Complete lack of investment and a mediocre manager from the lower leagues paid peanuts.
He really is drawing down his commitment, despite Dalman and Choo stating otherwise.
perhaps he does not realise if the club performs the same this season as last ,we will probably only need to open 2 stands next season and there will be very little left to sell.
Perhaps when he does visit leckwith again, the empty seats will remind him of how he got it so wrong.

Not quite right. Tan hasn't completely alienated the fan base. Not me for certain. And I know quite a few others.

Its not ideal and sad for people to lose jobs but it has to be done, fewer fans means that less staff are required.

The club has to do it, id be concerned if they hadnt.

Inevitable really.

I'm glad in one way but agree with Annis and Fred Keenor and the many who saw this unfold at the very start of rebrand.
The gamble failed.
And whether you are Colourblind or Keenor. We fans have been smashed in the middle.

Time now for fans to turn up rather than stay away.

Show them we are Cardiff City -to whatever prick Chancer with a wallet who breezes in and out and hops on and off the roller coaster.

Like any business you have to make cuts if your income drops ,on one hand people are n among about the debt and then they are moaning about no investment you can't have it all

Thought the 50/50 draw was a money earner for the club? Surprised they got rid of it.

Re: ' More Cuts at Cardiff City '

Had to be done .

Problem is you'll only then get the support we are getting in mid table.

On this basis Slade was probably a good choice NOT ON FOOTBALL MANAGEMENT but to reduce players and bring in div 1 players.

His bonus I reckon is based on costs. And staying in championship.

alienated fans? not the vast majority of our fans, if alienated people wont be supporting club, and besides when went back to blue that should have ended alienation, or are fans holding grudge against tan? didn't see them doing so in premier! ! :old:

And those same fans come out of the woodwork looking for tickets when we make a FA/League or Play-Off Final and moan their heads off when loyal season ticket holders are rewarded instead of being given to fair weather supporters.

What are you basing that claim on?

There have been no figures published for this time last season( I.e August 2014 ). The most recent ones are for the Premier League season to 31 May 2014 when the club made a loss of £12 m and had a total wage bill of nowhere near one times it's turnover let alone twice it.

I don't think the club has ever spent almost twice it's annual turnover on players ' wages or even close to that .

Perhaps you could direct readers to the figures you are referring to?

Annis

There are still lots of examples of wasted expenditure at the club that,if avoided, could have meant some of those people keeping their jobs.

E.g. How much did VIncent Tan pay the club to use its CEO for a number of weeks to work on buying football clubs in Bosnia,Belgium and the USA when his time would have been better spent for CCFC's benefit on CCFC matters? It may not involve huge amounts of money but will certainly have involved several £000s that would have helped pay a number of part time employees.

I believe Ken Choo to be a far higher calibre for the CEO job than Simon Lim was even though they come from similar backgrounds (qualified as accountants then left the firms they worked for at a fairly junior level to join the Berjaya hotel and leisure division) but he is still being used as a personal employee of VIncent Tan rather than of the club that pays him.

Keith,

I did wonder how much we wasted of our clubs money employing our CEO to buy Tans other Clubs.
He has a big enough job on his hands here and a massive debt to reduce that his owner himself has created.

We have wasted £millions upon £millions in the last 4 years as the club has not been run properly.
