Charlie Austin's good, but Cardiff City's Kenwyne Jones is the best in the Championship when firing, says Lee Peltier

Russell Slade could turn to the ‘best striker in Championship football’ for Cardiff City’s Championship match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday (5.15pm).
Kenwyne Jones returned to Bluebirds action in midweek when he replaced Alex Revell after 68 minutes of their 1-0 League Cup win against AFC Wimbledon.
Trinidad international Jones, City’s top scorer with 13 goals last season, has recovered from a calf strain and earned a tribute from team-mate Lee Peltier, who said: “When Kenwyne is fit and firing he is best striker in this league.
“He’s a handful, nightmare to play against.”
Jones could share the field with R's striker Charlie Austin despite speculation he will leave before the transfer window closes on September 2 - with Newcastle, Everton and West Ham all reported to be interested in the 26-year-old.
Austin scored 18 Premier League goals in QPR's relegation campaign last season and Peltier knows all about the danger he poses.
Peltier added: “He will always be a threat, but we will be ready.
“We have all played against him over the years and he is quality in and around the box, but we will set up to play our game and do everything we can to stop him scoring."
As for Jones, he could slot in alongside Joe Mason in City’s attack at QPR and manager Russell Slade said: “He played 25 minutes against Wimbledon and that was great. That was perfect for him.
“It’s great to have him back in the group. We know how phenomenally strong he is in both boxes.
“There are few better than Kenwyne in the Championship when it comes to causing problems for other teams in their box.”
Slade said there are no new injury worries in his squad, while Bruno Manga (knee), Federico Macheda (back) and Ben Turner (ankle) are still on their way back.
“Manga and Macheda are making progress, while Turner is on more of long-term programme and will be out for another seven or eight weeks.”

I'm sure: Peltier's been on the wacky again

I'd swap Kenwynne for Austin. And that's for sure.

Re-read what Peltier actually said:
“When Kenwyne is fit and firing he is best striker in this league".
The reason Kenwyne Jones is not a top Premiership striker today is that he is not consistently 'fit and firing' - but when he is, he is a phenominal player. It just doesn't happen enough.

biI t like saying : "When the keeper choose the right gloves, he is the best in the league". Absolute rubbish!
Has Lee indicated at all when this amazing purple patch will be hit? Because if it isn't on Saturday evening, the statement is pointless.
"Re-read what Peltier actually said" is a bit condescending too. It's a daft statement from Lee and I bet he is already regretting having opened his mouth.

That's true, he has never been fit in his life

Kenwynes a target man he gets the goals and plays a key part defending from set pieces I really don't get why most of the fans don't like him

Would Kenwyne had scored as many goals in the PL as Austin last year?
I doubt it but he probably has/had it in him at one point

I also think that Warren Feeney is better than Sergio Aguero.

FFs lads Peltier is backing his fellow player I would not be happy if our players were saying their colleagues are not as good as anyone else its called supporting each other team work something a lot of our supporters could learn from Peltier .
