I appreciate that we have still a small gap in the transfer window left but in recent days there was a topic where a season ticket holder stated that they wished that they had not renewed due to the club's lack of signings.
I believe that the club needed to pull in the purse strings but they have shown little ambition by not spending a penny ( so far) on transfers bringing in quality players. How do you rate the club' s transfer business so far this summer?

poor
Thu Aug 13, 2015 3:18 pm
We didn't need many players in but we did need to offload quite a few
Thu Aug 13, 2015 3:35 pm
Average - haven't got as many as we need out and possibly not as many as we need in either.
Thu Aug 13, 2015 3:38 pm
They were already here they are not new signings, the club doesn't need many new players just a manager who knows how to use them properly and I don't think slade is up to it, hope he proves me wrong
Thu Aug 13, 2015 3:39 pm
Not sure if you read the question. Don't remember us signing these players this Summer.

It was tongue in cheek.

Agree, and as much as I think Slade will not take the club forward, he can't really be blamed for lack of signings or the failure to offload many players. He has inherited the big earners, and Tan has made it clear that there is no money to spend. He is going to have to work with what he has, and we are going to have to accept that the club is going to be run on a tight budget, which is probably not a bad thing given the debts. If we can survive in the Championship while the debts are being managed, I guess Slade will have done all that Tan has asked of him.

It doesn't even make commercial sense. If Tan had sanctioned at least one major signing, then I think a lot more season tickets would've shifted. We desperately need a pacey striker.

What about the parachute payments?
Wonder with player reductions and payments how much he is still owed?
Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:38 pm
This is certainly going to end up in an interesting debate
Remember Slade is happy and Tan says he has has backed him.
Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:48 pm
Terrible, think a lot more should have been the door.
Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:55 pm
i think the clubs transfers are one of the main reasons in the lose of so many season ticket holders
revell and doyle not good enough
and the likes fo kenwyn jones not putting in the effort
Thu Aug 13, 2015 5:00 pm
I say poor simply because we haven't addressed our main problem which is the need for a quick goal scoring foward.
Thu Aug 13, 2015 5:16 pm
I think Slade is just happy to be in a job and VT is happy to back RS into a corner where failure to reach the playoffs will mean he will leave for nothing when his contract runs out at the end of this season.
To put things into perspective the last time we failed to sign a player for a fee during the summer was in season 1995/96. So despite £18m in PL parachute payments we appear to have gone backwards 20 years. Back then we didn't have a pot to piss in so it was easier to accept but it's difficult to accept now.
Little wonder season ticket sales are down as fans are not mugs and most realise the club is on a downward slide with little signs of the decline slowing down.

I voted pathetic because of the constant lies about players we are going to get. Tan has quite clearly lost interest and the fact we are cutting cloth because of this I ain't gonna complain. But the one bug bear is the quality of manager.
Thu Aug 13, 2015 6:23 pm
I voted excellent
We don't need any more players to stay in the championship which is quite obviously tans aim slades remit
And our debt is coming down
Thu Aug 13, 2015 7:06 pm
I also voted excellent

For long periods of last season we were dominated by poor to average sides! Last yrs championship was very poor in quality and we still struggled!
We have not addressed last seasons issues! Yes the club can say " aiming for top 6" most would say the same! But we will not be anywhere near top 6 if we don't bring 1 or 2 in for the area that we desperately needed last season!
This season will be a lot harder than last. Much better quality plus the teams that nearly made it last season have strengthened again...
Clear lack of ambition and the club are just telling us what we want to here with aiming for top 6. We spent the majority of last season in the bottom half!!
Possibly the worst transfer window I can remember for quite some time!!
Thu Aug 13, 2015 8:29 pm
There has been no honesty from the club over the clear remit to cull player investment. Fans would have backed them if they were honest?
Thu Aug 13, 2015 9:09 pm
Poor, very poor!
Thu Aug 13, 2015 9:47 pm
Poor not bought anyone who will start regular
ameobi on loan is ok but it's a loan
also sales have been poor as of yet
tried to sell Noone, Marshall,Le Fondre etc and so far nowt so poor at best

OK lets test that theory. Say this 'big' signing would cost a modest £3m along with wages of again a modest £1m. That is a total investment of £4m.
The average season ticket is £320 (when junior tickets and free carer tickets are factored in) that means we would need another 12,500 season tickets to be sold to break even.
Hmmmm commercial sense

There won't be any transfer fees paid out until we sell Marshall and if we get 5 mill that will prove to be excellent business by the club.
People seem to forget a successful football club needs to be run like any successful business.
Well done tan, choo, dalman and slade for stopping the rot!!

Morning Guys! Good debate this.
For me, I don't think we needed many incomings. We had a good squad of well over 35 players that simply needed trimming down, and a capable management team to get the best out of the ones we already have.
Look at last year, the amount of poor seasons good players had, showed me that if the management team can get the best out of them this season, we have a fantastic squad.
I would honestly say, that if Marshall did go, I do think we need a senior keeper and would love Wayne Hennessey here but I'm not the manager. After Moore conceded that goal against Fulham, it shows me that if Marshall goes, a keeper is all we need.
I for one, am glad that the board of directors are not splashing cash, we all know you can spend £10-£20m on players in this league and it means nothing. Its all about getting the team balance and togetherness right and if that happens, were in for a treat.
Pilks, Noone and Dikgacoi are like new players, Noone was simply awful last year but has started on fire this season. Pilks was missing through injury and we can all agree that when he was injured, we missed him and I think he will add goals and pace to our wingers, as will Noone.
Dikgacoi is an international player, and given time he will be a perfect defensive midfielder hopefully allowing Gunner, Ralls or even Whitts to push on and create chances. Some of Kagisho's balls for the goals against Bournemouth and Watford were superb and once fully fit, he will be perfect in front of the back four.
Give it time guys, as always additions are welcome but it has to be the right type of player.
