Annis, Slade said yesterday that Jones has not been offered a new contract, but will wait to see how things go and there was a possibility of a new contract depending how Jones plays this season!

Cheers, personally at those kind of wages I would not give Jones another contract.

All Summer City tried to offload him,but his wages in my opinion are beyond for a Championship club.

To be honest, the only thing I don't like about kenwynne jones is his wages. If he was on less he would be a great squad player to close out a game.

I agree, but we can't blame Kenwyne for sitting tight as it's almost certainly his last contract at that sort of level. In his position most people would do the same.

My view is that, given we can presume he is unlikely to get a move, Slade should make the most of having him on the books. We saw from last season that even in a poor team providing few chances he was still our top scorer.

I do think if we have wingers that can deliver the ball into the box (like Pilkington) Kenwyne will get 15+ goals at this level and any decent striker playing alongside him would get a similar number with the number of knock downs he would contribute. That's a hell of a long way toward Championship safety if I'm right.

Not only was he our most dangerous attacker when given good service, he was also our best defender when facing set pieces

If he has a good year they should offer him a new contract, but with huge cuts and if he doesn't like it the good luck finding somewhere else that will pay him more

Do the club pay his NI and tax?

Annis, you said Slade likes Jones and that Tan wants him gone because of his wages.

Who knows what could happen if Jones would be willing to take a pay-cut?

I honestly think Jones is enjoying playing at Cardiff, and is settled....

Fair enough but is this unique to Kenwyne or do the club pay all their players tax for them?
Wish my company had paid my tax over the years!

The useless tw*t cannot trap a bag of cement £47 000 a week is anyone on here really going to suggest he stays? Trouble is who the f**k is going to buy this muppet, I cannot express my contempt for this clown. As for Slade he is a pub team coach

That's what I couldn't get my head around.
If he's on say 40 grand and paying the higher tax rate of 40% then paying his tax would mean City pay him around 60 grand a week plus NI plus bonuses - £65,0000 a week. Doesn't add up to me.

There is no way Kenwyne would get a new deal as any new deal would presumably be for less money but for more years. Kenwyne is better off personally waiting until the end of the season so he can earn the money from this contract before accepting a new one.

It suits KJ to stay put, not just because he is being paid handsomely, but at the end of the season, he walks out as a free agent and can afford to play for less wages per week on the basis that he will have a chunk from the new club (instead of a fee to Cardiff). In effect, he will top up any shortfall on his huge salary in this way.

KJ still commands respect as an attacking forward. This will be reflected in his market value.

Meanwhile, he can just sit around and collect the cheques, or play and have more money. Not a bad situation for him is it?
