Am I the only person on here that doesn't know what a sticky is?

Its basically when the mods like a post so give it priority so it stays near the top.

Can't see what the issue is here, TBH

Would Forum Members rather have to trawl to see the most recent/relevant threads/posts?

All threads/posts are a matter of personal opinion of course, but no single 'Mod/Admin' wholly decides what should be made a 'sticky and we do try to demote them once they have run their course and that will usually depend on the amount of response each gets from other Forum Members

How else would you have it done, fella? :?

Some of them make no sence there was one two days ago with two players names somebody wanted to sign for us, just made up stuff although the important topics should be stickys :laughing6:

simple really. not rocket science.

First of all silly twitter rumors dont need to be stickies. Neither does a MODs personal opinion which seems to get made one all the time, neither does every single news report regardless of what its about.

You say about having to trawl the page, but thats exactly what people have to do when the most recent "normal" thread is halfway down the page.

right now there is 9, but you have this one viewtopic.php?f=2&t=161386 and this one viewtopic.php?f=2&t=161331

are either of them really needed? as neither are new information really.

just makes the place look untidy

I tend to agree with Paul on this one.

I've never been the biggest fan of stickies but also see why they are also a good idea. Personally I think anything more than 10 is excessive, at that stage I think your losing the point of the sticky as it's half the page anyway . Personally I'd say no more than 5 at a time and agree it would male the place look tidier but up to 10 isn't to bad.

depends whats going on i guess, there will be times when youll have more than others, but theres enough mods here to be keeping on top of it i reckon.

There will always be times when there are more 'sticky's' than others, but ultimately they are there to highlight certain things (and we can argue all day on priorities) and if someone thinks a particular topic is 'of value' then they will do it

Often, a 'sticky' will be taken down quite quickly if it is of no value and/or if there is a need to 'tidy up' and I guess it is often simply a matter of opinion, but ultimately they are there to make life easier (at least that is the principle)

I agree fully with Paul.

There are loads of great threads which are started by board members that fall away almost unnoticed because there are so many stickies. I think most of us by now know the personal opinions of the board moderators on a number of issues and quite frankly it is boring seeing the same crap recycled time and again.

It is quite obvious that this board has lost a lot of traffic and the staleness is a main contributor in my opinion.

Let's have a clear out, cut the number of stickies (I think the suggested number of 5 is correct), have only one news story (or have a separate media forum) and start putting at least one of the 'other' board members in a sticky slot selected on the best of the rest basis.
