I was once again starting to worry why Declan has not been featuring in City's games.as last season Slade never gave Declan a chance.

Declan has been injured and is this week waiting on some more scans.
He has already had some, but they did not reveal much. Hopefully the latest ones will say what the problem is.

He's a defender that can't defend in my eyes

Not good enough in defence and cant go passed players on the wing. Loan him out is the best option imo.

Any player who can hold their own in the Premier league,in my eyes has to have some quality about him

yeah played 20 times in the prem but we got relegated annis and hes not been able to get in the team under two managers now that says hes not good enough mate as much as we would like to see home grown players in the team

Do you think that John is better than Malone or Fabio? I don't ,he should be sent out on loan what's the point in having 3 left backs

Nathan Lee Oyler-burgess I think declan is a quality and should be given time he doesn't get In the squad ahead of malone or Fabio but should have spells this season as its the only way he will develop and he may even shine and take first choice

If Malone is our starting LB(and after his performance on Saturday he should be) then Fabio will want to move on unless played as a winger. This would leave John as the competitor for the LB spot. Although I'd like to see John played on the wing

No he's developed and Brought through as a winger only in our promo year he was put at lb so he had to make the adjustment as he broke into first team football

no def not blaming him but he was part of a leaky defence,the boy was thrown in by malkay to play left back and hes no good at defending,kinda the point at leftback tho,hes def not as gd as malone and thats the bench mark now

Declan John came through the academy and development squads as an attacking winger but malky decided to try him left back against Macclesfield three seasons ago and he played very well so stuck there since but for me I would love to see him given a chance on the wing with that electric pace, also when on loan at Barnsley their manager also seen something in him on the wing.

Not seen anything to make me think he will make it at this level.

Needs to be loaned out for a full season to see if he is worth offering a contract.

I think he was pretty good, having seen him in the prem, but he didn't look very sharp in the game against Shrewsbury. I'd like to see him play more regularly though, good ball dribbling and perseverance.

My son played with Declan in the academy for about 6 years and on many occasions they played him at left back as players were expected to play a number of position. So it did not just happen later , however it was clear for everyone even at that young age he was never going to be a defender He could not tackle or head the ball and was always out of position and he was not the bravest However as a winger he was quick and that was his natural position .

I rate Declan and think given a run in the team he would be not just a good player but an asset to the club.

Ditto - He played fine for us in the Prem - would have no problem having him back in the team - the competition for places the better

Fabio for me is better,but yes I would prefer Declan than Malone

I totally agree with Annis , he started the season in the premiership and held his own so to say we got relegated when he played is stupid he played very little when it went wrong.

He is also a winger who we changed to left back he is young and will be a good player why people slag him off is beyond me

Declan is a good young player but unless Fabio is sold then I think he should be loaned out. We don't need three left backs and Malone seems to be Slade's number one at the moment.

decent defender but the problem with him and fabio is they cause lack of defensive stability as both like going forward but not defend together! was a main complaint when they did play together.

Declan is not a defender why do we keep going round and round on this subject
