Last year we kicked off our league campaign on a Friday night, live on Sky, away to Blackburn Rovers.
Going there, on coaches, we knew that traffic would be a nightmare on the M5 and M6 but we undeterred.
Just under 1,200 City fans made the journey, the majority of us taking a day off work and knowing we wouldn't return home until the small hours of Saturday morning.
This season our first away fixture is relatively close, in terms of distance, at QPR, again live on Sky, but this time on a Saturday evening and likely to be home well before midnight but so far only approximately 500 City fans are planning on making the journey.
Why ?

most people have been to qpr loads of times and with it being on sky I can't be arsed

I think fans have had enough of the drab football being played under Slade.
Mon Aug 10, 2015 8:16 pm
I think costs also

Bland football, buzz has gone for a few, false dawns, one silly issue after another, atmosphere is shit, although rebrand sorted some won't come back easily, lots to compete with, the club has no connection with the fans.

Think last season alot of fans were expecting us to bounce straight back up to the premier league, this season expectations are lower so with the game being on sky think alot if fans will give it a miss
Mon Aug 10, 2015 8:29 pm
everyone expected us to bounce back to the prem straight away. We had just signed Pilks, Morrison, Manga, ALF, Guerra, and still had Hudson, Kenwynne (who had been on form pre season) and Ole as our manager, we expected to walk the league.
Not now, all the expectation has gone, the fairweather supporters have made their excuses, so we are left with 15000 home attendance and less than 500 travellers. nothing to be concerned about, as i know with a run of 4 good results, the crowds will start to increase.
if we beat qpr and Blackburn I think there will be 18000 for wolves.
Beat wolves and forest, i see 20,000 for huddersfield.
That is football in a rugby City.

I can only speak for myself I suppose. I went to Blackburn last year and as you said the nightmare on the M5 and M6 didn't deter me. We got into Ewood Park 10 minutes after kick off. After the nonsense of the Premiership season and with a load of parachute money me and my mates were looking forward to the new season, confident Tan would be looking to take us up straight away. I didnt have a lot of confidence in the quality of the squad then but thought Tan would ship out the dead wood and get it right eventually. The writing was on the wall during that match. Our midfield was woeful but I still felt certain Tan would learn and sort it out. I thought the man's not a complete idiot, surely he understands he will get more money in the Premier than wallowing in obscurity.
I was completely wrong. Fast forward to this year, Tan wants to extract himself as soon as possible, wont put his hand in his pocket and has put a PE Teacher in charge. The team set up is same old, same old and no lessons are being learned. I'll give QPR a miss and suffer the gimps on BBC Radio Wales instead. They're about the same level as Russell Slade.

Carl - you are just encouraging the miseries to have a further moan-fest on this board. Never mind the attendance, you'll be driving down the number of hits on the board!
I've been a regular visitor to this board several times a day for the past couple of years, but now I'm down to a few times a week, sometimes not bothering for days on end. AmI the only one who feels like this? Of course, there may be others who have left already .....

I went to 17 aways last season including Middlesbrough, Ipswich & Wigan. (only midweek I missed was Rotherham).
I simply cannot afford QPR at the moment though, Tried putting a big event on over the summer and lost a lot of money. don't see me doing any aways until at least Rotherham.

Because they can't just click their fingers and make everything O.K
They stripped the soul out of the club and it's gonna take more than adidas stripes to breath it back in.

The post was designed to, perhaps, hear honest and frank opinions.
Had we been playing say Huddersfield or Rotherham for example I would understand the low take up but being QPR and how City fans have generally travelled in large numbers to London, I am somewhat surprised.
I am wondering is it apathy pointing towards a belief in the club, is it because of last seasons football, is it down to Wales' success and the pending trip to Cyprus that is putting people off ?
I am not convinced that it is cost alone, if at all ?

Getting our tickets tomorrow, so that will be 20 more.
I think we took 900+ to the Shrewsbury friendly, so I don't think it's a sign of anything permanent.
I'd still expect it to be 800-1000 even though it's expensive, a late ko, on TV and a couple of weeks before a large no of City fans head off to Cyprus.

I hope we can reach 1,000 Tim but I doubt we will, tickets have been on sale for two weeks and the take up has been moderate at best, not what the club were expecting hence the text we as a travel group received about having to sell out the Gold tickets before the silver ones can be sold.
As a first away I thought it set us up well but unfortunately it hasn't captured the imagination of the City fans, I hope as you say it is not a sign of things to come.

last season is completely different from this one ! are we allowed 1000 fans at qpr even? its up to fans if they go or not easy to blaame slade as easy target , about 1k have not returned because of rebrand/tan leaves couple thousand not turning up! logic dictates away support will suffer same fate.

why should club be concerned? qpr will get the money its the team that may suffer with lack of support but as we know it hasn't effected us before when fans refused to travel!

Allan, are we allowed 1,000 fans at QPR ?
Are you seriously asking that question

Allan, are you ok ?
You are asking yourself questions ?
Of course it is something that should concern the club if this is the start of a trend, less fans = less support.
In the past we have had protests, such as Leeds away last season, and maybe, just maybe, that galvanised the team to put in a performance for the fans but if the away support is consistently low it could have a negative affect rather than a positive one.
I hope we see big crowds at home and away and sincerely hope that the fans return in big numbers to support the team home and away.

We will always be blue.
Fans will turn up when football improves.

Can't remember the last time we took less than a 1,000 to QPR, are we allowed

Here's a few reasons:-
Expensive day out
Lacklustre football
People on holidays
No new signings to get excited about
Lack of ambition on and off the pitch
It's on the telly
We'll be playing in red

Tim mentioned Cyprus. Maybe a lot of fans who would have went Saturday are saving their money for Cyprus?
Mon Aug 10, 2015 11:32 pm
I went to Blackburn away last season and have a busy schedule this time around which costs me money.. I would like to do QPR away but got a lot of things going on besides football this year.

The supporters ARE the soul of the Club. The rebrand was an excuse for many to jump ship.

The most loyal supporters are the ones who are still here DESPITE the rebrand.

Yes , a very poor show and when that highlights the fact that regardless of the money that Tan has ploughed into the Club, and his and others dreams of becoming a major force in UK football has not worked , the fans have lost interest no matter which excuses are given and I can see average attendances dropping further if this season isn't a success ,Cardiff has rightly become known for it's excellent shopping facilities and I'm sure most would prefer to go and have a day out in Ikea than to support a Club who had a momentary glimpse of PL football but are not prepared to watch anything less.
