Shouldn't read too much into one result but this fits with the general impression I have that our Academy/Under 21 set up is going backwards at a rate of knots. Certainly results at DVP level were poor last year compared to previous years and there seem to be no players coming through for the first team. Let's hope the new coach can make a difference but I suspect that the real problem is that there is no real commitment to youth development at senior levels in the Club.

Agreed the JB,s have even gone ahead of us at this level. Mathews was the last to make it from our Academy although Falls might if we continue to play him?

Coventry City Under-21s impressed on the opening day of the Under-21s season, claiming a late victory against Cardiff City.
Rhys Healey put Cardiff ahead in the first-half but Ben Stevenson leveled early in the second-half before Dion Kelly-Evans struck in stoppage time to win the game.
The Sky Blues started the game with Ivor Lawton taking the captain's armband in midfield and Jack Finch starting at centre-back.
Corey Addai also started for City and he was called into action for the first time in the 13th minute as a clearance fell to Rhys Healey but Addai got down smartly.
Devon Kelly-Evans was lively for the home side and he combined with the trialist well to open up space in the area, but his shot was blocked just a minute later.
Healey had another chance just five minutes later but his shot was blocked by Ben Stevenson before Cardiff took the lead on the half-hour.
Tommy O'Sullivan found space just outside the area to give him enough to place a curling shot in the top corner to give the Bluebirds the lead.
Early in the second-half, the Sky Blues pulled themselves level. Devon Kelly-Evans, City's most dangerous player, pulled back for Stevenson to fire home from five yards.
Devon Kelly-Evans almost put the Sky Blues ahead after neat play between Callum Maycock and Stevenson, but his 25-yard shot flew over the bar.
Cardiff's Healey had two chances to restore the away side's lead but both times, Addai denied him with his feet as City pressed for a late winner.
And they found it. A great move across the pitch found Dion Kelly-Evans in space on the right-side of the box and he powered a low shot past the keeper to win the game for City.
