Ali was missed.....

Sun Aug 09, 2015 11:50 pm

Ali was missed on Saturday,....whoever the replacement was , seemed he didn't have a scooby do and showed zero passion! Such a contrast to Ali.

Considering it was the first game of a new season, the intro over the rubbish tannoy system sounded like an undertaker at a graveside. No excitement, no big welcome for the players, no 'c'mon support the boys etc'.
As the players came on pitch the second half, not even sure the guy knew the team had returned
seemed to struggle to know the names of the subs!

The Club needs staff who have passion for the City......The tannoy system sounded like the guy had his head in a bucket and couldn't really be bothered.

Mr Tan or recruitment boss........PLEASE..... Sort out the sound. and get a presenter who loves and knows the City...." it IS important...and if you want to dispense with Ali (why?)' then please please get someone to help make the stadium a fortress of noise, passion and support for my team who I've supported for 50 years!

I said in the post-season survey that Ali needed replacing, but at least replace him with someone who has an ounce of personality and charisma. The new announcer was totally un-motivational and clueless, wasn't sure if it was a joke or not to be honest. The other thing that needs clearing up and sorting out as soon as possible is the quality of the sound throughout the stadium, it's either too loud and killing ear drums, or it's too muffled and unbearable.

To be fair to Richard Shepherd, he was asked to step in as stadium announcer as emergency cover after Ali was sacked. He isn't a permanent replacement, and after Saturday's performance i doubt he will get the gig again. But he is anything but clueless or passionless about City - however he sounds. He is the club's official historian and usually co-commentator on the Player match commentaries. In fact he was doing the Player commentary on Saturday as well as multi-tasking as the man on the microphone by the tunnel.

He is very knowledgeable about City and loves the club, but he is getting on and has a delivery like Mr Cholmondley-Warner that puts takes deadpan off the scale. He also makes so many mistakes on commentary these days (and has to be corrected by his co-commentator) that I doubt his ability to read out a team sheet without getting something wrong. On the Player commentary he was convinced that Pilkington had scored the equaliser!

Ok, explanation accepted.....let's hope the powers that be move quickly to get the right replacement.....and while we are at it let's get some happy go for it music to get the crowd rocking! Men of Harlech may be patriotic but does nothing to get the crowd in the mood like eg a bit of rocking all over the world or equivalent! And with lower crowds we need every voice behind the team! Suggestions for songs please?
