My first game in years.

And I am very glad I did. Worth the travel even though I have caught the sun loads from my seat at the front of the USW stand.

My first thoughts were the crowd was quite sparse. I thought 18k but my nephew had it spot on with 15k. The line up was a bit strange. Seemed like we had 3 centre midfielders and Pilkington hugging the right hand side with Malone getting forward on the left.

I thought the atmosphere was pretty decent. On the whole it seemed like the crowd was getting behind the team with a few instances of people getting on the players' backs when they didn't get the ball forward quickly.

I was impressed with some of the football played. Digkacoi looked good and I think we will benefit the more football he plays. Mason and Malone were good and Pilkington didn't stop. Connolly's distribution was awful and we need Manga back.

Less said about the mistake from Moore the better. Whittingham's set pieces were awful and his passing isn't anywhere near as crisp as I remember it being.

So happy with the goal. Noone looked sharp and I hope that he is up for it this season.

Anyone else reminded of Etuhu when they see Ameobi?

I think the fans were happy walking out. Seemed that way to me anyway.

Honestly, really not sure how the season will go.

Slade says he is happy with his squad and everything has gone to plan,so that's a positive sign.
Tan says he has backed Slade,so really we can only wait and see how it all pens out.

I haven't renewed but four of us went yesterday. For a first game of the season, I thought the atmosphere was poor, but then none of us had any idea what sort of football we would be watching so perhaps it was understandable to a point. I thought we created some great chances and Joe Mason really should have done better on a few occasions but overall our build up again was far too pedestrian. There were certainly positives - especially Pilkington, Connolly, Malone and for me Dikgachoi did OK too, but Fulham must be laughing all the way back to London to have come away from that game with anything - we have to be more clinical as we should have scored four easily in my opinion; it was harder to miss some of the chances than to score. I was encouraged to see us be a bit more expansive so hope we can build on that over the season and finally see the back of the dreaded hoofball.

Football was dire. Fulham are a very average bottom half of the table team with several players missing. Pilkington and malone were the only sparks. Moore is also a liability.... I've always said that so not just based on his calamitous mistake yesterday. Dikacoi was poor and out of shape and judging on that performance shouldn't be in the first team. I would take gunnar and the departed adeyemi over him. Revell shouldn't even be anywhere near the stadium let alone starting. Anybody who thinks we are going to get anywhere near play offs with this team and manager need their head read.

If that was dire then what was last year? Wasn't dire at all, an improvement

Agreed, very harsh assessment. First game if the season can always go any way, I though we looked like more of a team than last year and showed so many improvements, it was far from a masterpiece but were building slowly.

I thought some of the football was pretty decent. Created chances. If not for a good keeper we would have scored 3 or 4.
