IMPRESSED WITH A FEW PLAYERS/BUT STILL SOME WORK TO BE DONE

Sat Aug 08, 2015 3:04 pm

Result - Cardiff City 1-1 Fulham :bluescarf:

A draw was definitely a fair Result - We looked good at times but Fulham also had their chances and looked dangerous going forward.

Matt Smith put Fulham ahead early in the second-half after goalkeeper Simon Moore failed to deal with a long, high ball down the middle, but Cardiff City fought hard to get back into the game.

The Fulham fans shortly after the Goal were singing to our Fans " YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE RUGBY " :o

Fulham also had a few good chances before the Goal so we were lucky it was only 0-1.

Fair play to City though they didn't put their heads down and shortly after subsitute Craig Noone equalized for the bluebirds, he cut inside and let fly from 25 yards to earn his team a point in the dying minutes :ayatollah:

The attendance today was 15,429, Fulham brought nearly 1,000 down the M4.

City played some good football at times I was impressed with a few players especially Malone.

Kagisho Dikgacoi looked sloppy at times.

Joe Mason was very impressive in the first half but looked tired in the Second Half.

Sammy Ameobi looked sharp at times and dangerous on the ball.

Looking forward to Wimbledon on Tuesday night :bluescarf:

FOOTBALL IS BACK :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Decent game today, Pilkington and Malone really impressed me.

Agree about Dikgacoi, but he's still getting back to fitness and will only get better with time. Having said that, he was better in the first half and had 95% passing accuracy today.

Good to be back :thumbright: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

I know it is the first game of the season, but everything seemed so laboured. Dikachoi looked totally unfit, Ravell looked what he is a 2nd division striker, very little creativity and a goalkeeper that can't catch. Sum it up really, this season looks as though it is an extension of last season.

Whoever think that we don't need some new quality players the just look at today's inept performance.

I agree Revel was ineffective and Dikachoi looked knackard in the second half but there certainly was creativity and several attempts went begging when either wrong options were taken or a leg or other body parts got in the way.

Fulham were extremely fortunate with their goal and only got a sniff when we lost composure after conceding.

Whilst he was on the pitch Dikachoi looked good and one pass completely split the Fulham defence in the first half. Ralls seemed to have some kind of free role and supplemented central midfield well.

If we can find our scoring touch I can see a great season ahead.

Two early season observation's.... One Revell should not be in our starting 11 very often and Whittingham will stroll through the season if Slade allows him to,and I'm sure he will

Can anyone explain to me what Whittingham is meant to be doing.

I thought Whittingham had a good game he was everywhere today I thought, I think mason needs a striking partner with pace as mason is more of a fox in the box striker he was working hard but lack of pace hindered him a bit today,

Mason does need a striking partner with pace , by chance we have one Javi Guerra

GOod observations. Whittingham always gets a free pass, "he does what he wants" you know so I'm afraid we can't do anything about that. He's a fixture.

I know it was only 30 minutes but I thought in Sammy Ameobi we have another Wilfred Zaha.
I hope I'm wrong...
Not impressed at all....

I thought Pilkington had a really good game and was our most effective player. I thought Amoebi was totally ineffective and can hopefully, only get better. I hope when Manga is fit,he partners Connolly and. Morrison is left out of the starting 11.

We played well and there is much more to come it was just a goalie error that let us down but onwards and upwards Malone had a great game I thought he ran up and down the flank and was impressive beating Pilks by a margin. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

More enjoyable than most games last season but we still lack pace throughout the team!

Good to see Pilkington back as he impressed me last season until he got injured at Watford which coincided with the start of our poor run of performances in the winter.

Ameobi didn't look fully fit and seemed to turn too much instead of controlling the ball and doing the simple thing but will wait until I have seen him a few more times before passing judgement.

I hope Noone gets his confidence back with that goal as we need pace in the team but not at the expense of Ralls as he did well yesterday.

I would expect Jones to come back into the team as Ravell worked hard but there doesn't seem to be an end product !

I know it won't happen but 4-2-3-1 formation would be good with same back 4 until Manga is fit then

Dikagcoi Ralls/Whitts

Noone Mason/Doyle Pilkington

Jones

I must have been watching a different game to most as I thought Mason was very poor.

Top players were Pilks, Malone (a real surprise for me) and Dikajoi.

The lack of positive, inside, runs from the front two really stifled the midfield but once Noone and Ameobi game on at least we had some pace and trickery. Although I would agree the jury is out on Ameobi overall.

Until we get another forward in I'd rather go with Jones a
and Doyle as we would have a real goal threat then.
