The old food with a drink policy must be costing them a fortune on matchdays imo. Unless they just don't want the trouble it may bring rite outside the stadium, what are your thoughts on it wez as a pub owner?

Went through last season without having food, and only drinking coke.
Think I'll have some food this season so I can have a beer, if it's the same restrictions.
By the way Annis sorry when you read this, just text you to see if you were going to the Sand Martin tomorrow

It's ridiculous closing totally I wouldn't be happy if I owned a bar

Would be a different story if there was a Rugby match being played in the stadium.

There's rarely trouble outside grounds these days. The Sand Martin is on the doorstep and allows police to observe what is going on. Now fans will arrive from everywhere so it seems counter-productive.
I bet the landlord is bouncing. Don't blame him. Imagine the trade he could make. Closing the place seems really harsh. I've been to pubs similar to the Sand Martin near grounds before. No restrictions (apart from massive queues).
Shambolic I call it!!

don't use the sand martin, but I can't see why they need to stay shut until 3pm, surely they could have opened at noon as soon as we kick off!?

Why is it closed ? Has there been trouble there in the past ? The harvester outside the liberty is open from 9 am on match days - serving breakfast etc.

The liberty pub had permissions years ago, not so strict then, also they are not smack in the middle of a residential area, whereas City are. I guess that one of the conditions of having a pub built right next to the ground, was these restrictions on match days

The harvester pub at the liberty is in just the same sort of residential area as the one at ccs and is closer to the liberty than the sandmartin is to the ccs.

On the face of it, it seems ridiculous that the sandmartin can't open let's say at 9am today. It doesn't seem the sort of place that would get any trouble in it.

Perhaps Swansea residents did not object when the plans were put in, perhaps Cardiff residents did, or perhaps Swansea courts are not so strict on opening hours as Cardiff courts are, also I would not call the Liberty stadium smack in the middle of a residential area. The main reason maybe is that the Sand martin is actually on ground owned by Cardiff City and is therefore part of Cardiff city stadium

Of course the liberty is in the middle of a residential area.

This ludicrous regulation regarding to have to order food before you can have a pint is down to the Looney, left wing, rugby loving Socialist government, which won't be replicated around the Millennium stadium today
