Dai Hunt...... what a guy

Tue Aug 04, 2015 3:18 pm

So on Monday at the group photo I had the "pleasure" of sitting behind him. First time I've met him and he was hilarious, I've read stories about him on here and he told me a few. The guy sat next to me "warned" me about him too lol.. The things he was shouting to Russell slade and the players... and a poor finnish guy in the same row lol had some abuse thrown at him on more than 1 occasion .. then when the woman steward asked people to move forward he went and sat with the players!! we're so lucky to have passionate supporters like him. And I've found out he's in the next block to me... I have no doubt I'll be hearing him or at least be seeing him again this season... what a legend. :thumbright:

Hopefully he's not moved seats - I can see him from my seat which is about 30 odd seats from him. Any idea where he's sitting? Fingers xd

When we were choosing our seats for the new ground when Ninian closed, we had a really tough time persuading the club representatives to tell us which block Dai was in so we could sit as far away from him as possible!

Seriously though he is a true bluebird through and through.

Good luck to him.

Around 2003 I was in the old NP shop on a Saturday with wife and kids buying club towels tops etc for a holiday in beindorm got chatting to dai told him we were going back to our hotel marriot to stay the night he said " come on then you can give me a lift to town " priceless Dai in the back of my car lecturing my two kids on being bluebirds for life mans a legend :D :bluescarf:

I've know Dave "Dai" Hunt for 35 years and, whether you like him or whether he gets on your nerves a bit, he's a true City Legend!

I remember about 3 years ago, going to the Vale to watch city train and my dad was talking to him until Dai started sprinting after a football which was kicked over the nets. About 4 other kids chasing after the ball aswell. :x  :old:

He said he was in Ninian 116/117 I think. He was saying how he jumped up once and broke a guys leg when he landed on him? Lol And how some Newcastle..I think fans surrounded him and he said yeah come on then and he had to hide in a chippy and the guy in the chippy knew him and let him out the back door... such a funny guy I was in tears with the stuff he was coming out with

I saw him in the sand Martin a couple of times and he was talking about him being in the directors box and was saying things like Ken Choo hasn't got a clue :laughing6: and the other day before the Watford friendly he was tucking in a big steak and wearing the new shirt he is a character a true bluebird. :thumbright: :bluescarf: :bluebird:

Guy is a legend and city through and through. Who can forget the shouts to pikey pikey when NP had barely 3,000 fans. A unique individual

You are right about that as I wasn't far from him. The few lads behind me liked to grumble about him but I took it 50/50. Sometimes it was annoying but other times it got people going and he can be a right laugh, which is important when the team are playing crap. There were a few times he tried to get unique chants going on the spot, god knows what goes through his head, and no one else would join in. He doesn't care though, he just keeps going and going on to the next thing or whatever. They should get him on the pitch to do half time shows. The world would be a boring place without people like him in it.

Say what you want, but Dai Hunt is pure entertainment value and adds to the match experience!

He sits a few rows away from me and is as passionate about this club as anyone I know. He may a bit barmy, but there is no harm in the guy and he always makes me smile! ;)

Him and the foul-mouthed girl (seems to have moved from 117) were better entertainment than the team on a number of occasions in recent seasons and we reckoned she must have swallowed the swear word dictionary! :laughing6:

I remember going to the Vetch about 15 years ago, got on my bus at NP and Jason Perry was on our bus. We were waiting for 1 more person to arrive.... Yep, Dai Hunt. Jason Perry couldnt believe his luck, 50 odd buses travelling down the M4 and he ended up on the bus with Dai who didnt shut up for the duration. I remember sitting in the Canton stsnd as a youngster when crowds were 2-4k and all you could hear was Dai and he was sitting in the bob bank hahaha. Top guy and massive City fan

The ironic thing for me is that all the years I have attended Cardiff games and I never encountered him once. Not knowingly anyway. However, I went to a Glamorgan cricket match and came across him there! I guess in the subdued atmosphere of the cricket he's even harder to drown out!

I remember Dai Hunt attempting to give Malky team sheet with the best formation on.

Also queuing outside the ticket for Chelsea tickets in the cup, Dai was hundreds behind at the back of the queue.
One of our fans said to him Dai you are a legend and should not have to queue , you should go to the front of the queue.
Dai then walked to the front of the queue and answering back to other fans in the front of the queue that he was a legend and shouldn't be queuing.....

He's an absolute toss pot to be fair...
He was sitting next to my mates at the Watford game during this pre-season when it started raining... He hit one of them on the arm and said "It has stopped raining now but it's still raining" then started giggling to himself.
A couple of minutes later he said "eyy. eyy. I'm Dai Hunt. Everyone knows me... and you know it" :laughing6:

Absolute character that I would change for the world.

Pre-season friendly at NP against WBA.

Bob bank closed so was in the Grange. Not many there a few hundred in there perhaps. All through the first half all you can hear is Dai shouting at Alexander in the City goals "NEIL, NEIL, NEIL NEIL NNNEEEIIILLLLLL, NEIL NEIL NEIL NEIL!!!!, NEIL NEIL, NEIL, NEIL, NEIL NEIL.

Went on for about ten mins until Alexander turned around and Waved at him. Then started again trying to ask Alexander a question in the middle of the match.

Do you remember the protest before the Liverpool game when Dai Hunt took the lead, went the wrong way and lead about 500 people into a housing estate instead? :laughing5: :bluescarf:
