Cardiff City want £5 million plus add ons to make it £6 million for Goalkeeper David Marshall.
But, West Brom are not prepared to pay this price.
Poor Marshall is stuck in the middle of this - he was told he could leave and he was joining West Brom but now it seems he will have to wait, not fair on him IMO - his head can't be focused.

The fans chanted for Marshall to stay as they attended an open training session and squad photo call at Cardiff City Stadium
Cardiff City fans pleaded with goalkeeper David Marshall to stay during an open training session at Cardiff City Stadium - but the Bluebirds captain has told the club he wants to play Premier League football.
Marshall, the target for a £5m offer by Premier League West Brom, was cheered and applauded by hundreds of fans behind his goal as he faced crosses and shots from team-mates.
“Don’t go, David” was yelled a number of times, followed by “Marshall is a Bluebird” and applause from all those preparing to take part in the club’s biggest ever team photograph.
But the Scottish international, who has been with Cardiff for six years, has already told club officials he would like to play

Poor Marshall, Stuck in the middle of a multi million pound deal (which he'll benefit from) while earning more in a week that I earn a year.

It'll happen I'm sure, good on Cardiff for holding out for the price they want.

think Marshall is happy here anyway I don't think he will throwhis toys out if the move breaks down
Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:40 pm
Can't blame the club for holding on for best deal.

No ,the club are spot on holding out for the best deal , they have all the aces here as Marshall is happy either way , so the club should get as much as possible

im glad the club is holding out for the best deal, if i was in charge when west brom come back with 6 million id say the price is now 7 agree or the price may change again, why should we always be the team losing money on players either pay the price or fuk off elsewhere
Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:51 pm
Mason, I think it is the right thing for the club to get the best possible deal.
The negative in this situation is that Marshall has been told he can go and his mind cannot be fully focused on City at this moment.

I don't blame West Brom I think 5m is more than enough if i'm honest, im sure it will get done in the end.

So we should be looking for 6million, they are a premier league club looking at a top class keeper.
It beats me how underpriced goalkeepers are being arguably one of the most crucial positions on the pitch.

I think it's good the club are holding out for what they want, dont forget he is banned for first 3 games and West Brom have until September 1st to convince City to sell for less or pay up! Marshall is an employee of CCFC so he has to carry on regardless, either way he wont be involved for a few weeks

I second this and also applaud the club for holding out, nothing poor about it at all. If he goes and we get what we want then we win, if Marshy stays we win ! I think you call that a win win

time for City to "arrange" for another club to come a lot closer to the asking price to spice things up a bit !!

Yep.
Time is on our side as well. Marshall is out for a few weeks anyway so there is loads if time for Boaz Myhill to have a mare and up the price or play a blinder and we keep Marshall.
Common sense would suggest that this wouldn't be finalised until after the league cup game. That way he will only miss the first two WBA games

The club should try and get every penny they can, but if they get to greedy, they might end up with nothing.
So far we have been doing awful business in the transfer market regarding sakes.
Yes I do sorry for Marshal, yet another player at our club unsettled.
This needs to be resolved ASAP

Yeah shame

not sure why anyone would feel sorry for a mutli million pound footballer
Tue Aug 04, 2015 2:12 pm
People saying Marshall will be unsettled? First of all how do you know this? Secondly, i would imagine the club/agent told marshall of some interest and it was discussed with him that he can go only if West Brom or any other team reach the club's valuation?

Marshall has been a good servant to City, done a great job and been loyal
Tue Aug 04, 2015 2:14 pm
How dare the club ask for a better price, Tan out, Slade out

He's banned for the first 3 matches, won't affect us to badly

Is it just me that remembers West Brom playing hardball with us over Jason Koumas back a few years ago.Well it's our turn now and I'm with the club all the way on this one.
If they want him they know the price it's as simple as that.

Poor Marshall my arse!!!
Tue Aug 04, 2015 4:37 pm
Not sure if Pulis is popular with our Vincent ( following leaked team and all that ).
Tue Aug 04, 2015 5:31 pm
Cant remember who the player was, but didn't WBA do a similar thing to us a few years back, where they stuck out for their price when we were looking at one of their players.
good on City. if WBA want Marshall, pay the price. if not move on.
Marshall and his family love it in South Wales, cant see them burning a strip to the west midlands even if they do come back with an acceptable offer.

Probably Tan has told the club that he can't be sold until an hour before the deadline so that there is no time to spend any of the transfer fee.
We will then be told that unfortunately we haven't been able to sign anyone as the move were dependent on the money coming in from the Marshall sale.
If I were Marshall I would be extremely unhappy if this move doesn't go through after the club has basically been pimping him and the rest of the team since the middle of last season.
By negotiating with West Brom the club have made it clear to Marshall that they would much rather have the money for him and his wages off the books than have him stay.
And still they claim to be committed to promotion this season!
