Young defender completes permanent deal

Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Ben Nugent has joined League One club Crewe Alexandra, subject to international clearance.

Ben, who came through the Club’s Academy system, made his first-team debut during the 2012/13 promotion campaign. He made 14 appearances for the Bluebirds, prior to loan spells at Brentford, Peterborough United and Yeovil Town in subsequent seasons.

We’d like to thank Ben for his contribution to Cardiff City and wish him the very best of luck for his future.

Surprised and disappointed to hear this one, always looked promising and thought he'd have a good future with us.

That was from just over a year ago, and they think he was worth £2m then?

Don't get me wrong, I think he has potential even now but never would I rate him at £2m. £30m in the future is even laughable as well.

Some of the predictions made in the media are truly daft. I remember reading one article saying that he could rise to maybe £30+m??? That's Bonkers man. He's a talent, no doubt but it says it all (no disrespect ) that he's going Crewe A. A good, honest, hard working outfit, but hardly Arsenal.

Not sure about £60m ever associated with him but it was mentioned he was a future Cardiff captain.

I thought he was progressing well when he broke into the first team then all o fa sudden he was out of favour. It was that own goal against Bristol City that seem to start his downfall.
