Ex-City Player, Kim Bo-Kyung Cannot Play In England

Thu Jul 30, 2015 6:14 pm

Seems to have fallen foul of tougher FA rules on permits for non-EU players.

New work permit system - Required % of international matches over previous 24 months is determined by the player’s National Association’s official FIFA ranking:

FIFA 1-10: 30% and above
FIFA 11-20: 45% and above
FIFA 21-30: 60% and above
FIFA 31-50: 75% and above

Does this ruling affect the Premier League? If so what about Gesteded. Benin are ranked about 110th

Guestade was born in France so does not need clearance, it does not matter what country he plays for

I assume these new rules won't stop the South American players who can get Spanish and Portuguese passports with a few years residency.

Im sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous. What is the difference between someone from the EU and someone from outside the E. We are all human at the end of the day.

The government cannot turn around and say "yes, bring your life over here" and then a few years later pretty much turn his world upside down and tell him to leave.

Some on here, who used to follow the Crusaders RL, know my opinion on the players that left to go back to Australia also.

The fact is this government, and indeed past governments, allow people into the country. People who have no wish to add anything to the country yet, at the same time, people who do work hard - and want to add something to the community - are told to leave.

Our Government is a right mess!

Cannot say I'm 100% behind you here.

None European people should only be allowed in this country if there is a requirement for them or a shortage of skill. Then they should be given temporary residency.

There is no shortage of British people wanting to become footballers. The only reason we have foreign footballers is to improve the standard of football. To me that is not a good enough reason to apply such a culture but then again like everyone on here I pay to watch them therefore feeding into the corporate system that benefit most from it.

I'm with BakedAlaska on this one. There has to be a threshold and KBY has fallen below that. Whose fault is that? It has to be the player and therefore playing the victim card is not enough and he has to take the responsibility.

We all bemoan the fact that not enough young British/Welsh players are coming through the system and one of the reasons is their pathway is blocked by sub-standard foreign players and this won't be stopped by having rules which are not followed.

Why pick on Eastern Europeans? The vast majority are very hard working, tax payers who contribute far more to our society than the lazy, drug addled, uneducated home grown benefit cheats that plague our society. People from EU member states don't need a work permit to work in the UK and I can guarantee that most employers would take a Pole or likewise over a Brit any day because they are far more reliable and trustworthy. That's not their fault, its ours.

I agree with you.
