Sorry boys but I wasn't particularly impressed. If anone thinks we played a Premier League side last night you must be deluded.
This game was our only home pre season game and a chance (our only chance) to really enthuse a bruised home support.
With that in mind I thought it was lacklustre. Sure Mason grabbed a couple of goals but I don't think he did much else that really stood out and if his luck runs out what then. We just haven't got another inspirational striker who's going to bang in the goals. Malone also did reasonably well last night but along with Okeefe and Ravell they just don't look like quality footballers. Think about who would be lining up to buy them if we were trying to offload them now.
I've been to all this season's warm up games and would have gone to Holland if it hadn't been totally cocked up in terms of its organisation. There's still a chance I'll go to Bournemouth as well, although do I really fancy watching a nothing game against their B team?
Pre season for me has been more of what we had last year and not a reflection of a new start with more commitment and better football.
I hope I'm wrong though!

I agree and disagree with some of the things you have said. Firstly, I'll agree it wasn't a stand out performance however, it was much improved from last season. I agree that Malone looked good last night, personnally I thought he stood out and impressed me as I didn't rate him that much when he arrived last season.
I have to disagree with your Mason comments though. I thought he chased the ball down well, held it up well and finished off that performance with 2 goals. Remember, at this moment in time it looks like Kenwyne will be staying and besides his wages I'm happy with that as I see him linking up well with Mason and bagging a good few goals himself.
We have to remember it was just a friendly but after last night, I feel more confident with the right performances and a bit of luck we can push into the play offs

I don't think anything much can be read into what amounts to not much more than a training session. Avoiding injuries and increasing fitness levels are the priority in these type of games, and I don't read much into last night's win any more than I did with the draw at Forest Green. I've seen us have a less than impressive pre season and go on to do well, and vice versa.Think we will need to wait until we've played around 10 league matches before we are going to have a better idea of how good we are. I think mid table or just below is about our level, with anything better being a bonus.

Here is another view! everyone has an opinion and you are entitled to yours, but i think you are completely wrong, i thought it was a very good display passing the ball about instead of lumping it forward this is the first game that we are seeing very nearly our starting line up for Fulham, you must be very hard to please in your life if you were disappointed with last nights showing, but there opinions are welcome, even if they i completely disagree with them

I am not sure on mason, but he does have a knack of scoring which isn't a bad one for a footballer....
That midfield looked rock solid, all good footballers and they held thier lines well. It reminded me of a malky set up. Pilkington and Ralls as "wingers" will hardly scare fullbacks but their footballing ability as a team will. If we can somehow get Mason or Sammi banging in 17~ 20 goals each we'll be in with a shout for the top 6.

Here's another view.
we were solid.
no excitement but everyone looked like they wanted to play.
We played a high defensive line and passed back to draw the other team out and not because there was no other options.
No it's not how I'd like to see us play, but it's honest.
I can see a lot of 1 - 0 and 2 - 1 wins this season. I think we'll be top 8 but if we scrape into the play offs, we won't get through.
it'll be a hard season but every player that stays will play a part.

Have to disagree with the OP.
Last season it was hard to choose a MOTM due to the dire performances.
Last night it was difficult due to the amount of potential candidtaes - in the end I went for Joe Ralls.
Team approached the game in a positive manner. Any ball backward was made with the intnent to get it forward without hoofing it.
For a friendly I thought it was very competitive and all the players performed well.
Optimistic - yes I am

'Completely wrong' is a bit strong!
Just like last season there were large parts of last night's game that were pretty boring. Apart from Masons goals, how many other real attempts on goal did we have. I'm a believer in keeping possession but last night I counted out loud to my mate when we passed the ball 9 times in about 15 square yards on the half way line, between 4/5 players, impressive till we then lumped it forward and gave it away. Possession is nothing without an end product.
Did you also forget the twenty or so minutes when they pretty much kept us in our half?
For me we just haven't made significant strides on last season. A season which for lots of supporters was a pretty poor one.
I want us to do well but can't see how just at the moment.

The positives are there; smaller, fitter squad talking about team spirit and unity, the possibility of another signing or two, Pilkington and kg fit, Masons in goal scoring form which btw isn't luck there's no such thing as a lucky punch!

Clearly you don't know what your talking about. Just another poster too dull to accept anyone else's point of view, which is all my post is. I've never bood anyone, not even when the football's been rubbish.
Easier to post an insult than share an opinion!

Like you say, everyone has different points of view, and it's good to hear all opinions, whether good or bad. Talked to three mates who went down together last night, and none of them shared the same opinion. One thought there was not much to get excited about, one could see a bit of progress while the other was very optimistic after watching this performance. Personally, I pay no attention whatsoever to pre season friendlies. Been around long enough to know they are not much of a pointer to what will happen when the real stuff kicks off.
