I believe that we should hang onto Kenwyne, he is a top striker in this division, seems happy to be hear, unlike others and given the right service can score 15-20 goals in this division. and we would have have to take a loss in some way to move him on. If he delivers, his stock is back up there and we get our money back.

Kenwyne Jones is set for his first taste of pre-season action when the Bluebirds play their final match before the big Championship kick-off against Bournemouth on Friday night.

Jones rejoins Cardiff on Thursday after leading Trinidad in their Concacaf Gold Cup campaign in America this summer, and he will go straight into their squad to play the Premier League new boys in Dorset.

Powerful centre-forward Jones finished last season on loan with the Cherries, helping manager Eddie Howe’s team clinch the Championship title and promotion.

Now he returns to face his former club at their Vitality Stadium home on Friday (7.45pm).

“Kenwyne will be assessed by our fitness and conditioning staff, but he played four full matches for Trinidad and Tobago in the Gold Cup and we expect Kenwyne to be ready,” said City manager Russell Slade.

“He will train with the main group on Thursday and be involved at Bournemouth.”

How the fans rated Kenwyne Jones last season
Jones played every minute of his country's four matches against Guatemala, Cuba, Mexico and Panama, scoring two goals in a campaign that saw them lose on penalties to Panama in the quarter finals.

Now the 6ft 2ins striker returns to club duty and will be in the City squad at Bournemouth where he earned the Bluebirds £600,000 even though he only played for 41 minutes.

Bournemouth paid Cardiff a £350,000 loan fee to sign Jones and handed over an extra £250,000 bonus because he helped them go up.

The Cherries paid all of Jones’ substantial wages during his stay when he made five appearances off the bench.

Jones scored on his Bournemouth debut in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town.

The former Stoke, Sunderland and Southampton forward has a year left on his Cardiff contract and Slade insists he will be staying with the club despite rumours of interest from Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew.

I think Jones is critical to us, and I believe you have him with Mason we will see a lot of goals.

If the wages are an issue then we need to renegotiate. Not being funny in my work there are times when areas need to restructure. If people are "red circled" their salary drops in line with other people on the same job and its a take it or leave it option with reduced payments each month. This is what needs to happen here. Fk me, he wont go skint on £30k odd a week will he!

Unfortunately player contracts don't seem to allow for any re-negotiation.
