In terms of team ability Southhampton are the easily the best side since his Spurs days.If he don't make the grade in that set-up he never will.

If Caulker is worth £8 million then Chester is worth £20 million.

i saw that, and i was shocked. £8m for chester? is this the same player i see for wales who is slow, nervous on the ball and repertoire consists of heading, punting and short passes to the the other centre back?

based on his performances for wales i thought £3m, and no way would any PL clubs bother as defenders like that are ten a penny in this country.

as for caulker, he will get better with time IMO. maybe alongside a better team and defence he will do better. he is no leader and crumbled in that role with us.

I really rate Chester. I think £8m is a lot but he'd be worth £8m more than Caulker would be! I think Chester's problem is that his overall performance depends on his defensive partner. If his partner is awful then he won't compensate and will be dragged down to their level. However, if his partner is even slightly capable then he will be fine.

I'd say realistically that £5m for Chester and £3m for Caulker.

I thought his drink and gambling problems were common knowledge. He was always seen on the piss in Cardiff. And recently got arrested after getting in a fight at a gig in the O2in London.

He has got potential, but it seems he prefers a party than knuckling down and working hard. Also jumped at the first chance to return to the Prem with QPR instead of waiting to see in other offers came along

Going on his past record, I think I'll have bet on Southampton for relegation.

He trashed his rented house in Sully when down the city (true story-friends of my parents live next door). Him and Campbell were bailed out by Malky after a wild night in cowbridge.

More recently he got chucked out of the O2 arena after a fight with a player from another team.

When he was at the jbs I think he got nicked for being d and d.

In a nutshell he's a total pisshead. The clubs in Southampton will be licking their lips at the thought of him joining the saints.

from his point of view he's on £50k and 'made it' 3-4 years ago. who cares if he never reaches his potential - if he carries on like this for the rest of his career he can then retire and live a very comfortable life.
