' CITY SALES ON THE UP/ BUT '

Sun Jul 26, 2015 3:26 pm

Cardiff City memberships for this season are proving to be successful, with sales very high but the downside is season ticket sales have slowed right down.

It is probably down to the cost between the two and the benefits you receive.

A season ticket for myself in the Ninian Stand costs £419 and a gold membership would have cost me £25.

My season ticket works out at a little over £18 per match but friends who have the gold memberships have purchased tickets for the Fulham home game for £18.

As long as the match ticket is bought within 48 hours of going on sale the members get the early bird price, as well as that after booking their 5th match they receive a £5 discount.

The club state they have sold just over 10,000 season tickets and hope to sell 12,000 before the season kicks off but how likely are they to achieve that target when other than guaranteeing the same seat for the season there doesn't seem much more of a benefit to buying a season ticket over a membership.

The membership looks value for money but I don't think the season ticket comes anywhere near it, hopefully the club have plans to somehow reward season ticket holders with benefits as the season goes on.

Carl, If I miss say 2 home games this season, I would of better of being a member than a season ticket holder.

My mate Joff, went down the City last week, bought 2 Adult tickets with his membership cards for the Ninian Stand for Fulham home, £18 each, No charges as he went in person :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Great Value :ayatollah:

Season tickets still represent value for money.

The Gold Membership scheme is fine if you are able to get to the ground for the two day Early Bird price in order to avoid paying booking fees online, but it's worth remembering match days tickets are divided into three price Bands, gold, silver or bronze.

The £18 match ticket price for Fulham was the cheapest seat price for the Ninian stand but it's should be compared with the £345 season ticket not the £419.

The membership ticket prices for the equivalent £419 season ticket seats are as follows;

Gold, 8 matches @ £22
Silver, 8 matches @ £20
Bronze, 7 matches @ £19

This is a total cost of £469

Plus there is the membership cost of £25 and potential booking fees of £1.50 per ticket.

Therefore, the total cost to compare to your season ticket is £523.50 including the £5 discount

Even missing the 2 games, which we assume are gold it would still be £476.50 so you have got value for money

Every season I now miss about 4 home games and 3 away games due to being away.
I usually buy 4 season tickets.
My Adults £419 Ninian Stand, although next time I will be moving 3 rows down and its £70 cheaper a season ticket

But what if you buy the tickets in 48hrs of their release?

Re: ' CITY SALES ON THE UP/ BUT '

General sales prices are;
Gold £21
Silver £22
Bronze £24

Total cost £512 + £34.50 booking fees

Match day
Gold £24
Silver £25
Bronze £27

Total cost £581

But for these prices you won't need the membership but booking fees may still apply to general sale

No booking fees would apply if the tickets are bought in person. He paid £18 as he is in a cheaper zone than your season ticket i.e first 7 rows

He must have purchased the ticket within the allotted early bird (members) time frame

Annis, we discussed this situation (£70 cheaper for moving just 3 rows down) and when you multiply that by the four tickets you buy, it represents a big saving and makes your 'per game' ratio a lot better than it currently is!

However, I feel the club simply MUST do things to encourage the 'floaters' to come back into the stadium and the 'members' pricing seems a good deal for those people; although (and it may be more important to some than others) it doesn't guarantee them the same seats for each match they choose to attend

I was also trying to imagine how 'Nukes' must feel now that he has to pay full whack for the FOUR seats he sleeps on for the sake of moving only TWO rows down?!?!

Personally I think the club have done quite wel on this. Last season the 3 home games I went to cost 60 quid a throw for me and the 2 boys. Family stand was sold out every time I tried to book!!!!

Can't do first 2 home games due to weddings and other commitments but will be down in September.

Any news on shirt sales?

I agree, if it's bums on seats and they achieve this then that has to be good. If somebody doesn't have a season ticket and pays the same as I do as a season ticket holder per Match then good for them. They have chosen to do it that way and it works for some fans, some pic and choose games based on work commitments and others are not so commited as others and will attend based on performances. While some might feel aggrieved that they should be getting a better deal or some sort of privilege for being a season ticket holder ( and I get that) others like myself just want as many bluebirds in the ground as possible. I have no doubt the opening game will attract over 23,000

This ^^^^ Not everyone can attend every game, work/family commitments etc, So membership deals are a good idea.

I am going down to renew my season ticket today(and get my free Watford ticket) because luckily for me I am in a position to pay it all upfront and I think £345 for 23 games is good value even though I will probably miss a few during the season.

But full marks to the club for the membership scheme..hopefully that will encourage more floating fans.

In fairness at long last the club seem to have hot the balance about right

As I have said many times I know more ex City supporters than I do ones attending.

Agree, Annis

Apparently, the club are on to Nukes for 'hogging' seats but "in the interests of promoting better club/fan relations" he is to be offered a place on the 'home' bench for the coming season, so he doesn't get his sleep disturbed! ;)

Can't fault the club for setting up this scheme. Great for shift workers etc. who miss games. Season ticket isn't viable for many (like me) who can't predict working hours.

Just bought my season ticket and the boys the other day ,normaly get it in march etc but waited this year as i felt a bit unsure of the direction of the club and team.
Sure there are others that may have do the same ,i just want value for the money good football and at least the team moving in the right direction .

As for the prices i think last year i payed £740 for them in the Ninian stand in total,so when i did go back to renew i decided to move from one side of aisle to the other ,when i was asked to pay the cashier said £595 please i was well shocked :o :o so i said is that correct yes its because ppl had complained about the split between old and new roof sections getting wet etc thought cool happy with that, sat there last year did not get wet at all really. The occasional bird poo    other wise same as any other seat .

Result in my eyes. :bluebird: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :thumbright: :thumbright:
