I do think the squad is certainly good enough to get into the top 6. Providing Slade applies the right management and tactics. 4-4-2 plain formation needs to change! I'd love to see this team and formation for Cardiff City this season:

(4-4-2 Diamond):

Starting XI:

GK - David Marshall.
RB - Lee Peltier.
RCB - Bruno Ecuele Manga.
LCB - Ben Turner. (Captain)
LB - Fábio.
CDM - Aron Gunnarsson.
RM - Anthony Pilkington.
LM - Sammy Ameobi.
CAM - Peter Whittingham.
RS - Kenwyne Jones.
LS - Joe Mason.

Substitutes:

GK - Simon Moore.
CB - Sean Morrison.
LB - Declan John.
CDM - Kagisho Dikgacoi.
RM - Matthew Kennedy.
ST - Federico Macheda.
ST - Eoin Doyle.

Anyone agree? :ayatollah:

What happened to Nugent?
Is he still a City player?

Think you've got it spot on mate. But would personally swap Noone for Ameobi (if we keep him), pull Whitts back into CM and let Mason play the free-roaming number 10 role just behind Jones. Mason's our best chance of success in my opinion. :bluebird:

Didn't know Noone was a definite goner - in that case I'd go with your exact XI (but 4-4-1-1). Not sure about Cotterill, Slade's just been won over by his couple of wonder goals I reckon. Far from the full package.

As far as I'm concerned the fee wont be small enough.

Despite what is being put out in the Media Slade will not be bringing any big signings in or signings that will demand quite big fees until he gets rid of more players

Sounds like we're selling Slade by the title wonder how much he's worth

It's a squad that can compete that's for sure.

I'm a bit cautious on the final position but upper table is likely in my opinion. I can't say auto promotion hand-on-heart though and play-offs are such a lottery.

Improvement but maybe not promotion this season. It is positive though. :bluescarf:
