Can Russell Slade attract signings ?

Sun Jul 26, 2015 8:54 am

And sell the club to any potential signing above league one or two, as it doesn't seem he can, bar the odd loan signing, who know they will eventually be going back to there own club. Should we try and become a feeder club for a big club, and loan players, could this be our route to relative success :bluebird:

I think that the main thing with the transfer window is that it looks as if the club do not want to spend any money whatsoever in strengthening the average squad that we have.

Even though the club state that promotion is their ambition that has not been backed up in the transfer market to date. It is irrelevant if Slade can attract quality players or not if the club are not going to spend a penny. There is still some time left in the transfer window but I would be surprised to see a quality signing arrive. It appears that this so called A/B list is just shear fantasy if you are not prepared to invest. Could have added Messi, Ronaldo & Bale to it. It does not mean that the club are going to sign them.

I believe that the club's inactivity in the transfer market will not get the 'lost' fans flocking through the gates again.

Totally agree.

I'm not Slade's greatest fan at all but can't help feeling that his hands are tied here.

Despite the usual bollocks being spouted by the club about "backing" him in the transfer market.

I have been saying throughout the Summer break that Tan's priority is to maintain championship status while spending as little as possible. The club are obviously going to say that promotion is their target. If they came out and said mid table would be a success, they are hardly going to be inundated with fans trying to get hold of season tickets, and would have ended up selling fewer than they actually have. Slade is here to do a job, and that is slashing the wage bill, offloading a number of players where possible, and to keep this club away from the relegation zone. Providing he can do this, he will have done all that was asked of him. I honestly do not believe that promotion is even on Tan's radar, more stabilising things until he is in a position to try and sell the club. Plenty of good games in the championship anyway, the premier league has'nt got a monopoly on exciting matches.

Everything looks as though we are just being tidied up and getting readied to be sold off. The silence from Tan lately is defeaning. Whereas when we were red he would spout off bullishly and defiantly at any opportunity. Even going to the extent of inviting journalocusts to enjoy his hospitality in return for broadcasting his rhetoric.

If the powers that be were serious about us challenging for promotion:-

A) A better manager than Russell Slade would have been installed
B) Tan would have injected more money into the club to bring in better quality players.

I don't think Tan would accept a relegation so he has tasked Slade with keeping us in the Championship on a shoestring budget. To that extent Slade's hands are tied even though he would be unlikely to attract much quality even if he had the money.

The sad fact is that Tan is looking to jettison us at the earliest opportunity and one wonders where that leaves us in the future. I just wonder if this whole sorry saga with Tan was worth it.

We don't need signings our squad is good enough to challenge. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

Agree with both City Slicker and Steve Zodiac but can't see how we are going to be an attractive propositon to purchase as a mid to lower table Championship club with little or no ambition and a dwindling fanbase because that's what we'll be under Slade and the current regime.

Who in their right mind would want to take us on.

Remember that, whatever anyone on here may say or think, there were NO other options at the end of Ridsdale's time. We were up shit creek without a paddle and the Malaysians were the only game in town.

Nobody was interested in us then, and nobody will want to get involved with us now.

Last season would tend to suggest that they are not.

Yes I also agree with City Slicker and Steve Zodiac. I am not 100% sure no one but the Malaysians were interested.

I recall Ridsdale escorted that 2nd hand car sales man Ben Steel. Turned out to be a bit of a Walter Mitty guy in the end. So take it with a pinch of salt when others say no one was interested or will be interested now.

However, to bring us all back down to earth "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!"

I'm doing what a proper supporter should be doing and that is to have faith in your manager and team and not being a negative bugger because its a new season fresh start nothing is impossible in football. :thumbright: :sladein: :ayatollah:

Lol! No a proper supporter doesn't put up with rubbish and lobbies the powers that be to get it right!

And if nothing is impossible in football I look forward to seeing if TNS can beat Barcelona one day

Btw put a photo of yourself up on the forum to see if you look like your dad. I hope you got more hair than him!
