" ONE OF CARDIFF CITY'S SUMMER TARGETS "

Hull City have beaten Wigan Athletic to the signing of Chesterfield forward Sam Clucas.

Cardiff City did show interest in Clucas, but never actually put a bid in despite the media saying he was one of Slades main targets.

Experienced premier league and championship manager Steve Bruce to sign Sam clucas from chesterfield.

When we were after him.....

Cardiff fans - slade is clueless signing league one players.

it's a good point, I suppose any lower league manager at our level will be scrutinised as we don't know much about the way he works, whereas Bruce has more trust from his fans

Were we?...... were we REALLY?

Don't forget to get your dig into Slade even when you know NONE of the facts.

Spot on lads if slade signed him our fans would be saying all sorts about slade, ppl need to drop the call for slade to go and give him a chance,he's a experienced manager maybe not at the very top level but that's not his fault he was never offered a job higher up the chain

Not a good point at all if you read the OP properly. Here is the factual bit again with explanation inserts.

Cardiff City did show interest in Clucas, but never actually put a bid in(surely self explanatory) despite the media(thats the press or someone NOT officially connected with the club) saying he was one of Slades main targets.(So you can't actually tell if infact Slade was interested from this statement)

Steve Bruce is a good manager when it comes to transfers. Spent a fraction of what Malky did when we both went up to the Prem and built a much better squad.

Who's fault is it then that he was never offered a job higher up the chain? We are not exactly talking about an inexperienced youngster here. I believe he is in his mid 50's now, and of the top 44 clubs in this league, only Cardiff thought he was worth taking a punt on.

The clubs in the top divisions will be well aware of all the managers in the football league as well as those building up a reputation abroad. We are not just talking about 44 managers here. Plenty are sacked and replaced each year, and if you add up all the people who have mangaged in the top two divisions during the last few years, it will be well over 100 managers who would have been appointed. Out of all these, no-one apart from us thought he was worth a gamble.

Exactly, now I've still some things I'd like him to change like the rigid 442 but you can't knock the job he's done, reduced a massive wage bill, has built a team spirit and unity by all accounts,he steadied the ship last season and towards the end we was playing decent stuff away from home, the negativity from our fans at home matches u can hardly expect anything other than nervey performances,we need unity on and off the pitch to get success but to many ppl would rather us go and spend millions on another manager like that guarantees success

Yes, but how many players have been linked with us over the last few weeks, and who actually does the linking? Whether he was seriously linked with them I can't say, but one think we know is that he is not their manager. He's been in this game for quite a while, and has never been offered a job by any of the top sides. We are by far the biggest club who have actually taken him on, and to fair we are not exactly giants in british football. Having said that, I think he will do what he is expected to do here, but I don't believe that includes getting us promoted.

Let's put it this way after Eddie howes failure at Burnley everyone thought he'd disappear back to league one where he was "at his standard" now look everyone thinks he's a genious,I believe slade has the experience and with a gr8 coaching set up which he hasn't a bad set up now he can do well for us,as for promotion I don't think we will get promoted but I'd like us to flirt with the possibility at least
