Russell Slade says Bluebirds need to be in upper reaches of Championship 'straight away' in 2015/16

BUT STILL PLENTY OF WORK TO BE DONE

It’s true it has been a reasonable preseason so far for the Bluebirds. Especially out in Holland with two good wins over two decent opponents. But the fact remains it is still just preseason, nothing has been achieved just yet. Cardiff in Holland looked competent rather than classy on the whole in truth.

Defensively they look much more solid than last term without a goal conceded in two games on Dutch soil, but still the nagging doubts remain going forward.

There were glimpse, flashes of fluid interesting play, but there still needs to be a big improvement on that. Critics of their style last season under Slade are not going to be appeased by a couple of wins in Holland.

But the sense is that Slade’s Cardiff are moving at least in the right direction. The real proof is yet to come, but there is evidence emerging that this side should at least be some kind of improvement on last term. Well, you have got to hope so at least or what will be the point?.
