" 30 Cardiff City fans in Holland "

The quality of the Bluebirds base in Holland has helped preparations too, with the four-star hotel having a pedigree for welcoming football clubs.
I’m told Valencia were based there last summer and as soon as Cardiff vacate this weekend Spanish outfit Levante arrive along with Greek champions Olympiakos.
As the Cardiff charm offensive continues, a number of travelling Bluebirds supporters got the chance to visit their Dutch base at the invitation of the club.
Around 30 diehard fans had travelled to Holland, but, of course, are not allowed in to today’s clash with Sparta Rotterdam as it is being played behind closed doors due to instructions by the authorities.
No matter, the club invited them up to their hotel to watch a video of their last match, that 2-0 win over Israeli side Ironi Kiryat Shmona played on Tuesday, and then they were joined by the players for a chat and a good old autograph session.
It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but it was a nice gesture.

" Forging a connection "
Some would say the club in recent years had perhaps lost touch with the most important people involved, the supporters themselves.
So it is good to see that connection being forged once more, in however small a way, by actions like this.
It is another sign of how well the Dutch tour has gone for the club in general. But, for all that, this is merely a phony war, the real proof of the pudding comes on August 8 as Cardiff kick-off their Championship season.
It’s going to be tough, but at least you get the feeling the Bluebirds are as well prepared for the battles to come as they have been in quite a while.
