If we were to receive a bid then I think Slade will have no say in the matter, especially if it is a couple of million. Personally, I would let Whittingham go we are offered more than £2m, as I think he is way past his best and as he is getting older, there is less chance of him producing the quality that he used to, a couple of years ago. I feel that we need a bit of a out with the old and in with the new mentality. The younger players should be given a chance next season if Whittingham isn't producing the goods again. We can't have another season of the team having to carry Whittingham again, as that was definitely the case a few times last season and a lot over the past couple of years. What is the point of having a squad of players who are not given the chance to show what they can do. When whether or not Whittingham is playing good or bad, he will still always have a starting place in the side.
Peter Whittingham has been an unbelievable servant to this club and there have been many, many times when he has won us games just by himself. But all good things come to an end and just like when Gerrard left Liverpool, I think the end of Peter Whittingham's Cardiff career, may come around much sooner than we think. There is no way on earth that our central midfield should be the same as last season, with Whittingham and Gunnarsson. If it does then nothing will change next season. Out of the two I think Gunnarsson should play ahead of Whittingham, as Aron brings more to the team and he does a hell of a lot more for the team than Whitts. I would not be against Whittingham remaining at the club, but being a sub before being a starter. But, things just cannot remain the same, for this upcoming season.

Our season is doomed if thats our midfield again imo, this is the same peter whittingham everyone is raving about that got bossed in the middle of the park by a youngster at shrewsbury the other week. Way passed his best far to many people stuck in the past.

Well yes Rydog that was my point earlier. Given the size of his wages down here and all the adulation he gets would you want to leave if you were him? I certainly wouldnt; and you can say what you like about Peter but I think he's canny!

No I don't think I'm a fool thanks and yes you may be right, perhaps he has Cardiff City tattooed on his arse and maybe he'll play for us for nothing. However, I'm guessing the £10k a week and your love for him might come into the equation somewhere

Don't get me wrong Whitts is a talented player and can be frustrating at times but believe me if we got rid of him you would notice how much he makes a difference in attack he has the passing range a lot of championship clubs would love and with his dead ball deliveries and i am not really surprised with the bids that come him for him over the past few years and he turned them down because he loves the club and not there are not a lot of that going about in today's football Whitts is a good example of loyalty.![]()
