If that was the case then he would have signed. He'd realise it's the fans in Cardiff who know nothing about football, not the manager.

Pontypridd Bluebird.......

I understand the good intentions of getting behind the manager but I'm interested to know just what Slade has demonstrated so far to make you a fan.

I watched most games home and away last season and I've already seen our first two friendlies this year. I can't see anything so far to give me any optimism for the coming season. It really looks to me like the football could be dire again.

I know they're only friendlies but professional sportsmen surely want to go all out for every game. I'm still not seeing that in our sides approach.

Not going to go flat out in a friendly and risk getting injured for the start of the season!

They were friendlies and so all about fitness, but it was the same for the opponents. They would not go flat out and were at the same level of training as city.
Agree with Skewett it does not look good from what I saw. Ouplayed (56% possession to Shrewsbury) by basivcally a League 1 side. Shrewsbury lost 2-0 to Birmingham reserves 2 days ago.
It seemed we could not get out of our own half for 20/30 mins last Saturday and they were bound to equalise so nothing appears to have changed.

It's nothing to do with being a fan of slade and I genuinely have no idea if he's the man or not. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing to Base slade on from last season. He had to trim the squad. More than 10 players left. He had players like kenwyne and connolly suddenly taken from him at a random point in the season. The players that remained probably didn't know whether they were coming or going with the mass exit of others. Yet he still managed a top.half finish after taking over whilst 17th. No one mentions that he took us up to 8th whilst he still had the full squad at his disposal. If we're criticising slade after finishing top half then we have to look at the managers below us who didn't have to trim their squad and assume they're all 'clueless' too.

The bottom line is he deserves a chance. He may or may not be the right man. I'll judge him when it's fair to judge him.

I'm no fan of Slade's and his horrible outdated football, but I think this we should reserve judgement until Christmas when his signings have had chance to make an impact. From what I have seen, only Doyle and possibly Kennedy are up to the task, but we may yet cause a surprise or two.
