Get behind slade

Wed Jul 22, 2015 7:39 pm

I am sick to death with all the negativity concerning our manager Russell slade, why not instead of slating his every move and decision and writing off our season before a ball is kicked give him a chance.I feel if we as fans forget our personal feelings about our owner and manager and concentrate all our support and enthusiasm towards our players .Theres no excuses now about the stadium having no atmosphere,it's been proven that if the majority of our supporters open their mouths and make an effort then I'm sure it will lift the players and create a more intimidating ground for the opposition team . As the season nears I'm really looking forward to putting all the crap of the past couple of seasons behind and fully concentrate roaring on my team to a successful and enjoyable season . :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

I'm certainly going to give him a chance.

Nobody can tell which managers are going to be successful or not.

If we are struggling come Xmas then let's change, but he's got enough to deal with trying to sort out the mess Ole left without the fans making it worse.

IF he's successful and takes us up it will be the story of the century .
You never know.

I'm with you on this ,was he my ideal choice no ,but as he is our manager I will back him all the way,the man deserves a fair chance and with Trollope hopefully on hand to guide him more instead of only young then I think we may prove the doubters wrong :bluescarf:

IMO he's the not the right man to take us forward - the key at this level is experience, no confidence and clueless in my mind - But I will support him as he's the manager of the club I support and love :bluescarf:

In fairness to slade with the amount of crap he had to deal with from above and from some so called supporters last season the experience he gained from that will stand him in good stead .all I am saying is give him some slack and not jump down his and the players throats the first opportunity you get.We didn't finish the season too badly after all and I believe that trollopes influence may be seen in a more positive style of play :bluescarf:

Definitely deserves a chance, in terms of results there was a real improvement in the last third of the season after the January transfer window.

The problem he had was he weren't to popular to start with then we had that terrible run over December and January when we played a lot of the top teams. A lot of fans seemed to make there mind up then.

Too many play station manager/supporters out there that's the problem :bluescarf:

We need to support him and the team,it's the only way we can have any chance of having a decent season. I'm not saying we will storm the league but if we get on the manager and team's back then we ain't going anywhere.
I wasn't impressed when he was appointed but we have to set aside our feelings and give him a chance at the start of the season,if we are struggling from the start then I think he will find it difficult to save his job.

Had a chance for two thirds of last season including a transfer window to start building his own team.

Signed a number of players and then hardly played them.

The team played some of the worst football I have seen in 45 years supporting the club.

Kept selecting players who were obviously out of form whilst refusing to give others a chance to show what they can do, even for the last ten or so games when our season was effectively over.

Even after the return to blue the standard of football caused fans to desert in their droves.

I cannot see why so many on here think that Slade has the ability to do things anything different this season with virtually the same squad that proved only good enough for a mid table finish last season. Why would the same squad with the same manager suddenly turn into a team capable of challenging near the top of the table?

I will always support the team on the pitch.

However in my opinion Slade is way out of his depth and one of the worst managers I have seen at the club, right down there with Gould and Durban.

I believe that he will be found out by the middle of September at the latest and if Tan has the balls to sack him we will be back in exactly the same position as last season with another season wasted.

Slade did exactly what was asked last season. He stopped the rot while sorting out the mess left by OGS and to a lesser extent Malky. He's been very good in the transfer market IMO and think he will get us challenging for play offs

100% agree.
What we need IMO is a young enthusiastic manager who knows the modern game who can inspire passion and belief into what has become a clueless, predictable, passionless squad under Slade.

How has he been good in the transfer market? Lower league players who would have jumped at the chance of playing for a championship team. If you count cheap as good then fair enough, but the club have off loaded players and still we have a huge squad that is far better than mid table (or should be).
It is his style of football that is bad. Hopefully he was just trying to stablise the club and we will see better this season (the friendlies showed no sign of this though as they were the same old boring clueless style).
I would give him a chance if it was to bring on the youngsters and clearly build for the future, so mistakes are made but it is building towards a better future.

This is why we should have never got rid of Malky

If he was in charge no doubt we'd still be in the prem

There ^^^

I did one
Never thought I would but I have to keep the faith that showing positivity in the stadium can affect the 11 on the pitch in a positive way.
Anyone forgotten how boring Malky football was?

Top post. Spot on. I just wonder whether the people who will not have a bad word said about Slade actually go and watch the games.

They would have to agree that the football played under Slade last season was dire & boring. Hence the reason why over 5K have not renewed their season tickets. In some games fans were leaving after 20-25 minutes because they had enough of what was on show. The performances were dire week in week out so what Spurs them on to have so much faith in Slade and say that he is the club's saviour?

I would be delighted if Slade was to turn things around but based on last season performances I do not have that much confidence that it will happen. I believe that the majority of fans will get behind Slade once they start to see improvements on the pitch.
