Simply vote Yes or No

There is no denying he firmly played his part in the evolution of the club through the divisions. He turned us from a struggling Championship side into promotion contenders. Anyone that denies that is just simply too stubborn to see the truth in my opinion.

For all his faults i enjoyed watching us play his teams were exciting to watch.

We'd still be in the Premier League. He would have taken us up, had experience of failure at that level before, and he'd have had us set up with a squad of depth able to cope and survive. The fact is, in the last decade or so, he is the best manager we've had.
I would happily welcome him back to the club as manager.

is it me or is this is a misleading question. we are without him already. so the answer is yes.

Some good points here! He lacked one thing: Promotion. To say he was unfortunate at times is just a huge understatement. His depth of experience may well have carried the club through.
Malky was great too (my opinion obviously), but he had financial backing Dave J could only dream of.
I guess we will never know...... Or will we???? He could return as you said.

pretty pointless thread really, we'll never know if another manager could have done better.
are those who voted 'yes' suggesting that there aren't any other managers who could have kept us relatively competitive and staying in the championship on a reasonable budget? there are plenty, i assure you. jones hasn't covered himself in glory since leaving.
in one single season, on a vastly lower budget, ian holloway got blackpool promoted in one shot. if we had holloway or an equivalent in 2005 we might have got promoted!

6 Years and failed at the final hurdle every year.

Absolutely spot on! While he built exciting teams he never gave me the impression that he had the edge to get us over the line. Against Blackpool it was Holloway v's Jones and Dave was put to bed before half time !

I voted no, we wouldn't be where we are if jones didn't come here, done everything on a shoe string compared to the last two managers who pissed money up the wall. Like jones said " Tan wanted it all on the cheap " when he was here. Although he had to sell most season to keep us going as stated by him and the riddler

Overall, Jones was good for us but made some big mistakes. Such as signing EnKelman, Bywater, Lloyd Samuel and Etuhu. And not starting with Ramsay in the Cup final

That's the thing though lads. Can't argue that point but he played that key role in taking us from one step to the next. If he hadn't have joined us then I think within 2-3 years we'd have been back in League 1 the way we were going. Some people forget how desperate things were beginning to look before he came.
I do agree though, he went at the right time... arguably a year too late. I'm not sure he'd have taken us up but there's no denying his contribution to this club over the last decade.
