Away ticket subsidy. 88k for one match??

Mon Jul 20, 2015 7:15 pm

I just saw on Twitter the jazz are subsidising the Chelea away game. Punters paying only £22 despite face value being £50? That's obviously £28 per fan. If they take full allocation of 3k that's £88,000 for that one match?? They must have planted a bloody money tree somewhere.

Why can't Tan do the same? Free scarf, no thank you. Money off, yes please!!!

Backfired a bit. Going to sit on the naughty step.

i think swansea are doing that for every away game. whereas we spunked our bounty up the wall on mercenary dross like caulker, medel etc.

the thing is, its such a small amount to subsidise, probably about £1m, but the vast majority of clubs are so greedy they will not even do that. credit to swansea for that.

It's being done for every away game this season. £22 maximum for an away ticket. All clubs should be looking at doing something like this to help the fans out

£15 for seniors and £10 for kids
The thing is Chelsea and United are ones that will catch us out, tickets are £50 and £55 but Arsenal is only £26, it's estimated that more will become Jack Army members and £300k will be spent

Shit! EVERY game????

That's huge money.

At least it helps out the working fan. Don't know if many clubs can afford to do this though.

Every Premier Leagu club should though, you'll find that the bigger clubs won't entertain the idea

Clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and the Manchester clubs could easily do this its a drop in the ocean for them. They won't because they don't care about their fans and are money making machines. If Swansea can subsidise the fans so they only pay a maximum of £22 a game then others can do it too.
Maybe there should be a set limit in all 4 divisions. I know a lot of teams outside the premier league don't have a pot to piss in to subsidise their fans at away games so maybe clubs get charged a standard charge for away fans across the board. If you can see a prem game for £22 why not a championship one for £15 or leagues 1and 2 for £10.

£20 across the board would be decent, a league one or two club needs the money more than a PL club, overheads are similar pro-rata (less crowd, less stewards), everyone's paying for 2 hours entertainment so if you love your club then it matters not if you are PL or league two

I thought for a moment I had opened a can of worms, but actually, there is a real area for serious debate here.

Rather than clubs subsidising their away fans (even though this is a great gesture), the FA could put a cap on the prices charged. After all, the PL clubs gain huge riches each season so away ticket sales are hardly their biggest money spinner. In the leagues below, some clubs wouldn't change too much anyway but to standardise for each league would be a really good thing for travelling fans.

I did a bit of stirring early on in this thread (who, me officer??), knowing full-well that Bluebirds fans have had help occasionally with ticket prices. Surprisingly, I wasn't shot down in flames. Maybe we all appreciate gestures of solidarity with supporters, but we don't want yo admit it sometimes.

for the money we paid, a massive disappointment. at least he had a good world cup otherwise we would have struggled to have recouped half of what we paid for him.
